Dial next to good release

Hi guys I have a dial next to my hood release and don't know what it's for and it's not in the owner manuel.
any clue?

Take a picture and post it but I think it's the display luminescence dimming dial. I also think it only affects the "headlights on" dimming.

Wouldn't that "dial" be next to the trunk release? If it's next to the hood release I'd suspect something aftermarket. We'll see if the OP comes through with a pic.
