my ? is under the hood where the insulation is can that be removed with no negative affects? the reason i ask is because i ripped a hole in it fn around a few weeks back and was thinking of taking it completely off? has any one done this or know if it would matter? Im sure it has a purpose whether it be sound proofing, heat, etc... thanks again everyone?

Shouldn't affect anything by not having it.

 

from what iv read its made of a special material that 'melts' and tries to extinguish/reduce engine fires if the need arises. Dont know for sure but have read it in a few reliable places online

 

plus it has cool words on it!

 

Under mine it isn't fully painted. So I like it on.

 

Also...it helps keep the heat of the engine off the hood. Over a long time it can damage the paint on the top side of your hood. Never bothered me though, I've taken it off every car so far....
