What to do with my old coupe?
What to do with my old coupe?
I'm not too sure what to do with my first car. I recently was driving on the highway and the carbon fiber hood of my G35 broke off the latches due to corrosion. I was on the highway at night when it happened. Luckily no one was around but it sliced off the side mirror and then hit the side of the car and completely broke off. The passenger door got a little scuffed but it looks like it can be buffed out. It's a 2005 G35 with 150k miles. It has custom rims which are a little beat up and the interior is just in okay condition.
It's only been on one accident which was before I bought the car. I'm pretty sure I want to get rid of it. I'm not sure if I should just take it to the junk yard at this point or try to take it to a used car dealer and hope to get something for it. I loved the car but it's past it's prime and now in rough shape. I've driven the car for the past 10 years and it still drives well. I'm not sure if I should try to find a replacement hood from a scrap yard and buy an aftermarket side mirror. Idk if it would be worth it.
Any input would be appreciated. I'm clueless about what to do with this car.

A wrecking yard will probably give you $200 for it.
If it's a 2005 6MT it has the rev-up engine and the CD009 transmission and you can use those two items as a selling point to private sale the car for at least $2000.
If it isn't a 6MT you'll still get at least $1500 for it.
I would definitely avoid any car dealerships, they'll probably give you $500.
Just make an ad on craigslist or FB marketplace, here on the forums as well and just be honest in the advertisement about it's deficiencies and that it would be a good chassis for a fixer-upper project car. The CF hood should probably just be replaced with an OEM one from a pick-n-pull scrap yard. Keep the CF hood though because some potential buyer might want to repair it. You can probably pick-n-pull another hood for $50, doesn't really need to match in color, just needs to protect the engine bay from weather.

Out of curiousity how good of a fit are those Q50 rubber all weather floor mats? The OEM mats for the G35 have been long discontinued.
Do both of the pins line up with the holes?
