Hey guys, recently picked up an 03 procharged coupe. It was a buddies of mine. Anyways, about 1.5 years ago he took it to a storage unit. He told me when he was backing it in, it all of sudden got stuck in gear. He didn’t have time for it, so the car has just sat for the last year and a half. I’ve never heard of a trans getting stuck like that. Clutch still disengages/engages. I bought it and had it towed to my house yesterday. Really looking forward to digging into this car and giving it much needed TLC. I would just really love to solve this trans problem. Also when I start the car and hold the clutch it, it sounds like gears sort of grinding and gravel under the shifter, if that makes sense.

 

Sounds like something kaboomed either in the clutch or the transmission. Fortunately you can source replacements for a fair price. A brand new CD00A from Nissan is only $1800.

If it makes that gravel sound in neutral it's probably the clutch or something else in the bellhousing.

thanks! Going to pull the trans as soon as I have time and see if I can find anything. The gravel sound sounds like it’s coming right under the shifter but we will see.

 

It's REALLY uncommon to kaboom the entire transmission, these things are very stout but yeah I'm sure you'll find the problem when taking it apart.
