03 G35 Coupe Battery Drains after installing Double Din

Hey Guys, I just installed a Sony xnv-770bt Double Din Radio in my 03 G35 Coupe . Since I installed it. My battery has been completely Drained every 2 days. I double checked all the wiring and everything looks correct. So I have no idea whats causing this parasitic draw. Hoping you guys can help me figure this out.

Use your digital multimeter to measure the current draw with the vehicle off.
then disconnect your Sony Radio and remeasure the current draw. A substantial drop in idle current draw will answer your question?
Perhaps you purchased a defective radio?
How old is your battery and are you sure it is accepting a full charge?
FWIW I was on vacation for 8 weeks this past summer and left my Q70 parked in my garage. It started right up upon my return.

Good luck

Start by unplugging the new stereo to see if the drain goes away, if so then you know where the problem lies.

Hey Guys, Sorry for the late reply, but I was out of town and away from the car for the past few months. I was able to locate locate the issue. I had the radio ground wire screwed on to a metal bracket for the clock panel that was not attached to the actual chassis of the car. So basically it was getting no ground at all. And even though almost all the forums said the battery drain would not have anything to do with ground, I still went ahead and grounded it correctly to the metal chassis of the car, and had the car sitting for over 2 months, and it start right up. So apparently in this case it was a ground issue.

That was probably just a coincidence that your issue got fixed.

You cant have a power drain if it wasnt getting ground.
