Lightbulb Advice?I have recently bent my 17 in stock rim and have been looking for a replacement. Called up a auto dismantler and they have the 19 in rays and they'd like 600 for them. The RR rim will be replaced with another if I buy the set. Was hoping you guys could let me know if I should take them or not? Would it cost a arm and leg to restore the curb rash? I get they're 15+ years old lol so just let me know how you feel about it
I also don't know if it's ok to post this in multiple forums? If not my apologies. This RR one will be swapped out with another if I buy the set.
I'm sure the cost to refinish can vary a lot depending on where you live, but I'll give you one data point. I had my OEM 18"s refinished last summer and it was $220 per wheel to fix the curb rash and repaint in Hyper Silver. ($200/wheel without the Hyper Silver paint). My wheels were straight so I don't know if it would have been more if they were bent.
The Rays are nice. See if they'll budge on the price, especially since that one wheel is really beat up. (and has a broken valve stem?)
To answer your last question, posting the same thing to multiple sub-forums (referred to as cross-posting) is typically frowned on.
Depends a lot on what the condition of the rubber is on those 19s. Those things are pretty beat though and I definitely don't think they're worth $600 unless there is a LOT of life left in the rubber.
