Window issue

Driver side/passenger side window doesnt go up/down but recently passenger side actually went down and wont go back up now. first time ive heard the motors work since ive gotten the car. previously the driver side window was down but i swapped doors and didnt really care bc its cold out right now anyways but now its an issue again with the passenger door being down lol. driver side and pass side switches wont put the window up either. was thinking it was a master switch problem but why would it randomly work again lol i tried the old punching near the door handle and slamming the door with the button being held down but no luck lol. could it still be a bad connection in the master switch?

Take off the door panel, unplug the window motor harness and test for voltage, should be +12vdc or -12vdc when you push/pull on the window switch.

If there's voltage it's a bad motor, if there's no voltage it's an electrical issue.

This wire, test across the blue and green wires. That's the power for up/down.

Ok soooo i stuck to my gut feeling that it was the connector on the body side not being lined up.... and ding ding ding. I pushed from up under the dash and used a little force to push the door harness into the body harness and then locked it and boom windows *work*. Pass side goes up and down fine but driver side motor is messed up still lol you can hear it trying to move but oh well i got a 2nd door i can grab one from. Appreciate all the help buddy.

More than likely it's just the window motor failing. Usually they start lifting VERY weak before they completely fail. If you take off the inner metal cover for the door you can reach under the window and help lift it into place using one hand while you use the up button on the door switch.

Glad you're making progress though.

Stock g35 coupe with 6 mt and brembo package
I have owned a 2004 6MT coupe for 15 years and have gone through 3 door motors on each side, passenger and drivers door. I usually purchase a reproduction from Rockauto or other online suppliers and replace it in about 1 hr. Not very difficult to replace, resources in Youtube to follow.
It appears that the doors are very long and windows require motors that don’t last. New door motors are about $150.

I wish it was that easy lol where my door harness meets the body side the connector isn't mounted to the door frame like it should be and kinda just bounces around in there. not sure what to do about that. currently have the door off atm

Just use some flexible sealant like Masterseal NP1 or Sikaflex 1A. That stuff is normally used for roof sealant, grey in color. Both are high strength, high elasticity, fully waterproof, 30 year UV resistance, excellent adhesion to all surfaces (metal, glass, and concrete rated) and will last longer than the car does. Sikaflex is my go-to sealant for auto use because it just works so damned good for so many things.
