Is it maybe because I told him I won't be buying the car for at least 2 months?? Anybody else have this same sitiuation??

I just test drove the manual 3 days ago when I went in for an Oil change.

It makes no sence, mileage is mileage on both auto or manual.

EDIT - Not to mention it makes no sence for those (like me) who have 6MT 04 and want to know how the transmission (as said by INFINITI) was improoved. You cant feel the tranny or the improoved clutch by test driving the auto. Do you have an Auto? They know I have a 6MT, maybe you have an Auto and they are worried you will mess up the manual.

I think that's a little ridiculous about the dealer not letting you test drive the coupe. I've driven 4 different coupes in the last month at my dealership as I wait patiently for my 05 MT to get here. It could just be the policy of your local dealership, in which case what can you do? But no, geioushi, it is not an Infiniti company-wide policy to not let the '05 coupes go out on test drives

You probably answered your own question in the second last sentence.

If a salesperson senses you're not serious, not qualified or not in the market soon they might screen you out or not take you seriously.

If that's the case find another dealer or another salesperson immediately.

I just wouldn't be able to bring myself to buy an AT unless it's an SUV/Truck...

I think the automatic is great on the g35 and the manual shift mode is a lot more funner. I am surprised how fun it was. The thing is it's NOT a sports car. It's a sports LUXURY car. Whether or not you choose automatic or manual that's your decision. But I don't think it really matters if you have a sports luxury car. I like the conveniance, and stress free ease of automatics and without the embarrassment of stalling, or worrying about burning the clutch. And plus since it has the manual shift mode you can have a lil more fun although its no where near the feeling of driving a stick car. It's as good as it gets. Personally, if my parents let me get a stick car then I wouldn't have bought the g35. I probably would have got the Evo MR or a used M3 or STi. But that's only because I dont mind the body styles, and I am of a young age so that body style is suitable to my age group.

I was looking in a Consumer Guide book and here are the ratings for ride quality:

Sedan, auto: 7
Sedan, AWD w/Prem. Pkg,.: 7
Sedan w/Sport tuned susp. pkg., auto: 5
Coupe w/Sport tuned susp. pkg., manual: 3
Coupe w/performance tire pkg., auto: ?
Coupe, auto: ?

Does anyone have an idea of where the ride quality stands for the Coupe automatic without the susp. pkg?

+ another 1

I just can't fathom owning a sportscar in any form in an AT config, no damn way in hell. When I see much more expensive sportscars with AT's, I just cringe. I have to drive in stop and go traffic, and I don't mind the MT. A clutch is more fuel efficient (if you drive it properly) and better on acceleration most of the time. I like the simplicity compared to the AT, and the added control. Like the other people mentioned, get an AT in a truck/SUV, sportscars deserve a MT.

If you like to control when the car shifts, get a stick. If you could care less or want to pretend you are controlling when the car shifts, get the automatic.

Did you buy a 350Z or something? The G35 is a luxury sports car, with luxury being the keyword.

Coupe w/Sport tuned susp. pkg., manual = Coupe w/Sport tuned susp. pkg., auto.

part of it is, that only 10% of production G35 coupes made are manuals...

the majority of infiniti's demographic is ummmm...a more "automatic" crowd

we all know the above statement is true. But all manual coupes come with the sport suspension pkg while a "coupe, auto" comes with the 17" rims.

bottom line is that if you know how to drive MT...go for MT
if you dont, get AT
IMO MT G isnt for beginners. if you are desperate to get MT G, you must know how to drive it.
i think its worth having all those packages if money isnt the issue for AT
esp, sports tuned suspension package. 19 rims look SICK
