I just rented these two kits from a local Autozone (as well as a spring compressor kit, for a total returnable fee of $290). I test fit the Moog joint inside the store and while none of the tubes were as perfect as I'd like, it should do the trick. I'm hoping to get to this tomorrow. I'll provide an update and some pics when I do.

I'll be very curious and it might be helpful to have a sticky of the tools that work in these cases.

My experience with the red box and autozone was it did not work. Oreilly's was the same. Fail.

So, now that I have been shown one that works, it's ordered and on the way. I'll get to it in a few weeks I guess. Now to try to cut the pilot bearing without huting anything else.

Just make sure that whichever one you use that you grease the F out of the threaded stud if you're going to use an impact wrench on it.

ACME rod thread is excellent but it does have it's limitations, greasing it makes it last forever though.

The toolkit you showed, cleric670, arrived this evening! Hopefully something I can test out shortly.

And what kit did you purchase specifically?

I bought what you suggested:
Amazon Amazon

I won't have time to test it out for a bit, The transmission is taking me a little longer than I thought to finish, so I suspect it will be a couple of weeks before I attack now.

Also sidetracked as my daughters car has developed a problem, she lives a few hundred miles away, so I am going to go see her and fix the problem, so I have to backburner my Inifiniti for a little bit, like a week.

I rented this one and it worked out, I was able to replace both ball joints. One of the reviews even mentions a G35.
The cup was just barely too small and it pinched the base of the rubber a tad but no big deal. I believe this is the kit that's used in the video, post #12.

Yes, that's the one, however none of my Advanceautos carry that tool set, nothing within 100+ miles. They only have the smaller one, and it doesn't worrk.
