yeah that's normal. search youtube for g35 transgo shift kit. the first videos i saw didn't seem to really be able to communicate the difference well. but you'll get the idea. it's really firm and will chirp your tires in the first couple of gears even in an X model like mine. probably better in a coupe.
I too can testify for Transgo kit. If you are just putt-putting about town, you'll barely even notice it. But if you need to goose the hamsters, you will definitely notice the firm shifts :-)
Update I did use that stp 203 friction modifier I used like 1/4 of the bottle and I noticed a difference right away. Before when I was in manual mode say at 3000 rpm and gunned it it would move about 500 rpm then the speed would start to climb now when I do that the speed starts climbing instantly. Feels alot better. Thanks again for all your help guys I love this forum. My next mod will mostlikly be shift kit from transgo just gotta find a good place in ct to do that work for me. I work on my own car for the most part but transmissions not so much. I'll pull heads and do timing but I'm scared of the auto transmission lmao. But thanks guys
That's funny. I won't pull the heads off because it looks like there's too much to screw up. But there's enough DIYs for the transgo that convinced me it was doable in my garage on jack stands. But I also have a 2nd car so it's low pressure to get it done right away. So I could take my time and ask questions of the forum when I ran into confusing spots.
Yea when I had my 2 Hondas one broke I fixed while driving the other now this is my only car atm looking into getting more family car have an eight month old then maybe I'll try to diy it. I have done clutch but ik auto trans are touchy with sensors and solenoids idk just no experience with it.
Yeah your WOT video definitely looked like it was changing gears a LITTLE sluggish, not super bad but it definitely looked a little on the smooth side.
The transgo kit is really straight forward, fortunately EVERYTHING on the RE5R05A is straightforward, just don't pinch any wires. Definitely recommend taking some good photos of how they route the rear turbine speed sensor (one to the tailshaft) and the tranny fluid temp sensor so you can get it all back the way it was.
There's also good pictures in the FSM section AT - Automatic Transmission. Fortunately we have complete access to the Factory Service Manual for these cars thanks to Nicoclub.
Ohh and pay attention to the bolt lengths, which ones go where. This too is all in the FSM section AT, look under the "on vehicle service" section near the back of the book.
I might have a shop do I was quoted 400 -500 from a shop that has done the transgo install all kinds of cars. I only have one car and an 8 month old can't have car down to long untill I get second car.
So got the transgo kit installed today 531 with tax didn't drive it far yet just down the road from shop the my job shifts good normal driving. I have not goosed the hamster yet lmao though i figure I take it easy for atleat 50 miles. Went 4 miles so far I'll post update soon once I really test it. O yea just cuz 29.99 feels sturdy wanna do carbon fiber trim kit lol
