I have a 2003 G35 Coupe and my door lock from the outside is hit or miss. For starters, my passenger door doesnt respond to either a key fob, the outside manual lock or inside buttons. To lock it i gotta manually flick the switch. I bought that car knowing that problem. Now, my outside manual lock is 50/50. Sometimes when i go to unlock it (i dont have a fob cuz they only last a week for some reason then the battery keeps dying) the door will unlock but the car alarm will go off. Ive realized that i have to hold it until the windows go down to make sure its actually unlocked. Does anyone know what could be causing this? A fuse? A short? Messed up connections? Thats a few ideas ive had but dont know where to start looking.

 

There are threads about this if you search. One of the linkages in there gets rusty and stops moving reliably. You should deal with it now before it gets worse and you can't get it to unlock.

There's a search bar up at the top on the right. I tried searching and didn't find what I vaguely recall quickly. But there's lots of threads about a couple things you can look for. Put door won't unlock or something like that in the search bar. and a bunch of threads with similar terms will come up and you can read through them and see if any sound familiar. You're going to need to take your door panel off and look at what's going on inside. There are problems with the motorized actuators that are common too. But the manual flip lock is purely mechanical (not electrically actuated). If that flip lock lever is the only reliable way to unlock the door, you probably have an actuator problem. If even that flip lock lever won't unlock the door, you have a rusty latch/linkage problem. You'll see once you get your door panel off. Search youtube for door panel removal if you don't know how to get it off. You can probably find a good door won't unlock video there as well.

 

If you put "site:g35driver.com" into a Google search in front of your search keywords, it seems to help filter the results better than the forum search tool i.e. more focused on what you are looking for. The forum search seems to return a lot of "not so great" hits. YMMV. Of course, I now hate google search with its new interface and all the dang ads interrupting my results....
