05 Sirius Radio Question

My 6MT is on order... 6 to 7 weeks wait. Question is: The new antenna's stock location is on the rear deck by the speakers? I went back into the dealer today to find out... And he said it's no longer on the roof for 05. Is this True? Thanks in advance

I think they still do put it on the roof if not told to hide it. I just purchased a 05 Coupe and I had to call them and tell them I didn't want the antenna on the roof.

It's on the roof but it's cool with me.

Just installed my Sirius OEM on my new g coupe. I put the attenna on the rear deck and it is working amazing. The install took me a total of about 30 minutes to do, clean and simple.

i would be suprised to see the system work with the antenna inside the car. It's a satellite antenna, meaning line of sight, not an FM. You would be blocking signal from the satellite having it inside.

Your not pointing a dish as in sat TV. Having it on the outside of the car is technically the best (as with radio also), but its not necessary. They have personal sat radio players the size of walkmen now meant to work indoors. Its really a simple antenna. You can read lots of posts in the forums about people who are very happy with the rear ledge mount. I also saw someone today on the highway with theirs mounted on the trunk.

Is it pretty easy to get the thing uninstalled? How would I go about it doing it myself?

I have has my XM antenna on the rear deck of my Accord for 2 years now with no problem with reception. I plan to do the same with the factory SIRIUS on the G.

I also installed my own Sirius in my 05 and put the antena on the rear packing tray right behind the center of the rear seat. It works fine and I get a good siginal even inside my garage.

Both XM and Sirius use thousands of terrestrial repeater antennas to distribute the signal in addition to the satellites. As long as you are not out in the sticks somewhere - you can usually pick up either sat radio service without any line of sight to the sky. Typical transmission barriers like large metal and concrete structures with thick walls obviously still apply. Even where there are no repeaters there is a surprisngly large amount of wiggle room when placing an SDRS antenna.

Don't be surprised if you see your head unit constantly reading "ACQUIRING"
