2007 g35 idle relearn

Hi. I am not a mechanic. I had a new transmission put in my 2007 g35 and now it is sluggish. I unplugged the battery for 3 hours. I have been advised to try to the idle relearn. I can not find the procedure for the 2007. I can see lots of vids for 2006. Can anyone point me a the proper procedure? thanks

Not for the 07 HR. At least mine didn't work either using the gas pedal or Consult 3+. You need to reset the ECM and TCM using a reputable scan tool and try to relearn the transmission. The idle is preset and no matter what method you try, it will be at 650-700. If you have idle issues, check for vacuum leaks, cracked intake boots after the MAF sensor or intake manifold gasket.

My issue is sluggish after a new transmission. So you don't think the idle relearn will work.
I understand letting the battery drain for 3 hours resets the ECM. no????
Any other ideas? thanks

You reset the radio by disconnecting the battery, not the adaptive programs within the modules.
Put it this way; You throw away your old sneakers that were so comfy but fell apart. You put on new sneakers and they're not comfy because you need to wear them in.
Same applies to a rebuild or new trans, it needs to adapt to your driving and if you have old adaptive program in the TCM, then the TCM is trying to use the old sneakers instead of the new ones.. The shop where you did the work should have done that and if they didn't then go there and have them do it. Have them check for any codes as those can help you where to look.
It could be also mechanical fault in the trans itself if someone didn't assemble it right or put a wrong pressure spring in the wrong piston or forgot to tighten 1 or 2 valve body bolts.

I don't know of any youtube resets, i use Consult 3+ on Nissan cars. A basic xTool D7 works great on the G cars, it programs key fobs also.. Try it if you don't want to pay anyone to do a 3 minute reset procedure. You should also check if your ECM needs a firmware update by reading this thread: Guide for Reprogramming Updates to your ECU

I can go back to the mechanic and ask him to do it. He believed the new transmission was "plug and play" (I'm in tampa area - I might need to come to you.)
thanks again

No, it's not plug n play, it's not a USB mouse. If you can't find anyone with a scantool to do a reset then get a xTool D7, its a great beginners scan tool which does program key fobs. I had one and traded it for a ThinkScan 689BT which is better for my needs. But if you happen to be driving to the florida keys, then you can take exit 9b from FL turnpike and i'll reset it for you.
