"Hi there Jimmy,
Great News! We have confirmed your vehicle has been ordered for
February production. Your order number is Z582958. It is a:
2005 G35 Coupe 6MT
Ivory Pearl/Stone Leather
Premium Package
Aero Package
Navigation Package
Splash Guards
Trunk Mat
The MSRP should be: $39,030.
Your price should be: $35,729.
The vehicle will be built during the month of February. I will keep you
informed as to the progress. The first milestone is when we are
notified of the VIN and that it is "at sea". Then, the next milestone is
when it arrives at port (Los Angeles) and is put on a railcar. Then,
when it arrives at the railhead here and is invoiced. At that point, we
know that the car will arrive here in 2 or 3 days. We can begin the
paperwork at that time."

I considered ordering, but most dealers were telling me I'd hafta wait 3 months and pay MSRP or more. My parents had bought cars from a broker before, so I decided I'd give it a try. I called a different broker who works with most dealerships in the US, and he found the car for me (about 1K under invoice incl the tint). Credit check was done by fax and deposit by credit card. Didn't sign anything (but the loan contract for my credit union) till I showed up in Santa Monica. It only would've taken a week, if I flew down to pick it up right away (I had to wait for last Sat, when I had time). Supposedly, this is the last one on a lot in the Western seaboard... but that's just what my broker said.
Some of you ordering could also check out other dealerships in the area (in SF, there are a handful of Infiniti dealers around). They can check their incoming lists (which show up to about 3 months down the road), and those include VIN#s and all that. I spoke with the Retail Ops Mgr at Pleasanton two wks ago and she actually pulled up incoming lists for all the dealers in the bay area! So if you want it sooner, there could be a way...

I apologize for hijacking your thread! I think I'm trying to share your excitement in actually having your car!
Again, congratulations on your new car and I should not have veered from that sentiment!

Sorry this post doesn't contribute much, but the car was so hard to find (picked it up in LA) and it was just so 'worth-the-trouble'. Great info on this site.

Just a warning: I had quite an experience at Penninsula Infiniti... Did you know that EVERY CAR they sell must have lojack installed? They try to push these other 2 features as 'already installed' as well... guardian, stone-something, or whatever. Adds about 3k to the price, and they insist on it. I bargained w/a salesman for about 2 hours to no avail. The took 400 off MSRP, but wouldn't budge on the $3k of crap. They even tried to 'discount' the extras to about $2934.348798375 or some out-of-the-blue number. I made an offer of $36.7k, and they came back w/the price $38 plus that $3k of extras and big letters on the offer that said "You Win!" (Ya right!). I hear Frontier isn't too great (but I honestly haven't been there), but at Walter at Serramonte was very helpful and professional (he just didn't have the stock). Pleasanton was very helpful as well, and they say that they never charge >MSRP.

I worked w/ Jim of fleetrates.com, who put me in touch w/ Jeff Bounds at Infiniti of Santa Monica. There's a $30/yr membership fee for fleetrates (you only hafta b a member when u buy the car).
