Bought G35 and waiting for delivery

Ordered my G35 in Feb dealer told me should be in sometime in May.. Im sure many of you have gone thru this and I just wanted to know about the waiting period..

1) How long did it take before you got an actual Date of expected delivery?

2) Vin number?

3) When I bought my BMW I could see what stage of production it was and the ETA, Does Infiniti have anything like that?

4) Did anyone's come in earlier than expected? later?

5) How often should I check in with the salesman for updates?

6) Anything else you can think of??

Ordered mine 1/12/05, delivery date 4/21/05 +/- 10 days

1. About 40 days.
2. Not yet.
3. Not to my knowledge, but I'd love it.
4. Can't answer, I really hope it's not later.
5. As often as you want. I'm busy at the hospital, so it spares my salesman my annoying calls. Remember, you're paying his salary.
6. Search the boards for financing secrets and get ready to miss a few days of work when it finally gets here.

Most likely the dealer will already have the exact car that you want before that time, but will sell it to someone that isn't willing to wait. You should tell them you want a car that is close to it or you will walk. I bet you get the exact car you want in 2 weeks.

1) How long did it take before you got an actual Date of expected delivery?

Salesman looked it up on the dealership website and it showed exact date of delivery.

2) Vin number?

Was already available b/c it was already being shipped from Japan to the dealership.

3) When I bought my BMW I could see what stage of production it was and the ETA, Does Infiniti have anything like that?

I don't think so..

4) Did anyone's come in earlier than expected? later?

Ordered 3/12.. expected 4/8.. we'll see what happens.

5) How often should I check in with the salesman for updates?

Definitely as much as you want.. but you will most likely get a secretary answering your call first. If your salesman is busy he/she will not answer you and say they'll call you back but that's just from my experience.

6) Anything else you can think of??

Luckily they had a G35 with the options I want & the color I want on order already.. so it was basically in transit when I was at the dealership.. this is why they already had an arrival date as well as the VIN number.. hope this helps.. good luck!!

1) How long did it take before you got an actual Date of expected delivery?
Before negotiating a price the sales manager looked for a car at "Port" with the options I wanted, it was not a dealer trade the car was waiting to be shipped at port the car was ordered on the Jan 1,05 production and was to be delivered on 3/25/05.
2) Vin number?
The vin number was given to me the instant I put the deposit down on it and it was considered my car then.
4) Did anyone's come in earlier than expected? later?
I ordered it 3/4/05 expected to come in 3/25/05, it was a Jan 1 production car at port

Dont leave the dealership without knowing your VIN number

Yeah same here the vehicle that I wanted was on the Jan 1 production and was scheduled to be delivered at a dealership in Florida so it was re-routed to my dealership and will be here 3/25/05. Yes Sir

You will not get it with less than 4 miles, they test the car in japan, the car gets moved at the port and finally moved when brought to the dealer. You will probably have between 7-9 miles on it...if you are lucky.

More likely to sell to you the person they make the most money on if there are 2 people and 1 car.
