How can you tell how many miles per gallon you are getting?

I averaged around 17-22 depending on my driving but.. I don't have very many miles on it. Something that is VERY interesting imo, is that when I had my 350z it was pretty much the same. But, one I got around 10k miles on it, It started getting better. Even once time I was going on a trip and I got gas right before I left. I tried to use my cruise control as much as humanly possible the whole way up there... about 250 miles. And I got 32 mpg. Also, don't know if many of you know this, but the Z has a little gauge that tells all sorts of fun stuff. One of which is your fuel economy. I was actually a little dissapointed that the G didn't have one. I thought they were supposed to be superior?? Oh well. I still love it.

It's in the Navi. I guess having three extra guages isn't the look Infiniti was looking for. they did it for the Z probably for the sport factor

Thanks for the advise... But my avg. speed was 20mph, not much I can do about that. I'll try to slow it down a little bit, to see if I can get better MPG.

i always hear people asking how to check ur gas mileage. i read this somewhere and it makes a lot of sense. to get a true avg u need to go to the same gas station and the same pump. and once the pump clicks stop. dont top off. at that point you then take ur mileage driven and divide it by the amount of gallons it took to fill up. if u were to top it off you would not get an accurate rating. i hope this helps anyone with this question
