5,000+ Rpm clutch

I just bought a 2005 G35 coupe. After 600 miles on the car I start driving a bit more aggressive (wanted to break it in a little bit) and once I reach over 5,000k RPM, if I step on the clutch, the clutch trembles and it makes like a whirring "urhhhhhhh" sound. Hard to say what it sounds like but it doesn't sound good to me. Do you guys have that similar problem? Does the clutch feel and sound exactly the same when you switch at any rpm? I'm a bit worried. Thanks.

I can tell you that I would not be driving around with the RPM over 4k per. the owners manual untill proper break In. Then U should gradually Increase RMP over time. I think the sound is normal. It due to the type of clutch Infiniti uses.

It's normal. Nissan designed it this way. There is a lot of vibration in the pedal and the shift **** compared to other cars. It's all normal.

Oh whew!! Thanks guys. I thought the vibration was because of bad clutch in the first place so I was going to take it to service but after reading all your replies it makes me feel a lot better now. I appreciate your guys' quick response. Thank you!!!

I was wondering this same thing--it almost feels like a slight grinding on high rpm shifts.

Yikes!

The weather finally cleared up a little in the hole they call Detroit so I decided to break the G35 out of the garage and take it for a spin. So far my only driving of it was home when I picked it up from the dealer. Anyhow after warming her up I started to shift at higher RPMs and Yikes!!! What the heck is that sound coming from the clutch!!! It sounds and feels like a bad bearing is continuing to spin for 1 to 1.5 seconds right after I push the clutch in. During that time a loud noise is heard (like something spinning to a stop) and vibration is felt. It's quite obnoxious.

I'm assuming it's the same thing that you guys are referring to here but I definitely do not have to wait until 5k RPM before I hear it... and it's loud! Does anyone know if this gets quieter with age? I do not recall either one of the G35 s that I test drove off of the dealer lot exhibit this noise, or at least it wasn't intense enought for me to notice. The noise/vibration is not felt if I baby it.

Anyhow I'm concerned about this since all I have ever owned have been standard transmission cars and not a one has made such noises. I'm thinking maybe it's a bad bearing or something.

If this is the same thing you guys are referring to, has anyone successfully had this fixed?

when i test drove one i heard the noise, but dealer told me it's because the car was not PDI yet(the car i test drove had 27km on it) and the sales told me it will not happen once the car is PDI, i guess they BS me. mine is only 900km so far so i havent rev pass 4k rpm yet so far i have not hear any noise, hopefully it will not....

PDI??

Mine's at 180miles on the odometer so I'm not sure if it's "PDI" yet either... (I'm assuming you mean broken in)

PDI- Pre delivery inspection.......has nothing to do with break-in.

All cars should have PDI before delivery of the car to the customer....If the dealer told you it didn't have PDI, that is only the fault of their own, they are supposed to do this automatically to see if there are any problems with the car.

It is also known as the fee that dealers try to screw you on to get an extra $500 out of you, you shouldn't be charged for it.

mine makes the same sound, its like a howling or some kind of low pitched howl, it really does annoy and infiniti is giving me the run around and doesnt want to fix it. they tell me its un heard of and they dont know what the problem is so they dont know even what to do, unless a lot of people have the same problem and know what is going on they we will not be able to know, honeslty if somebody has a 05GC 6mt and is willing to come to my house to so i can drive it would be appreacited it, we can compare coupes and ill let you drive mine. Im serious and we go straight to the dealership

Ok, since every1 is experiencing this I'm assuming this is normal. Is there someone who doesn't have this problem?
