Perhaps those with problems should post some of the dimensions of their body so we can try to compare. Also note your normal sitting position. Just trying to make some observations, I tried slouching a bit in my computer chair and the natural tendency for me seems to be to spread my legs slightly. This could cause a pain in my legs if I were to do that. I tend to sit fairly straight so I have the best control of my car. My seats feel just fine to me. I do know race seats can be extremely uncomfortable if you sit wrong in them. I'll try and see how slouching or sitting in various positions might affect me. I'm 5'7 185, lbs, with a 36" waist.

What is the average height and weight with standard deviations of the average Japanese and Japanese-American male?
I'm sure that Nissan designed the seats with a smaller individual in mind than the average American, but the seat should fit a range of body shapes and sizes. Are the JDM Skyline GT 350 seats any smaller than the G35 seats?
Personally I'm 5'11" and weigh 170 lbs and fit just fine into the driver's seat.

most peculiar...

The initial selling point for me WAS the seat! I broke my back(L2 shattered) and ***-tested several different cars until I found one I could get in and out of(not the Z3/8, 350Z), then drove it, liked it, bought it...
and I'm a 34" waist as well...

Seats fit me like a glove. 5'11" and 155 pounds. Very tight in the upper back area.
I can see if you were in the 200+ lbs range though they would be too small.

I would have to believe that Nissan did take into account cultural size differences in the seats they install into their US and Japaneese-bound cars.

We all know the US is a little larger in the waist

For those uncomfortable with the 05 seats, just buy an 04 instead. Save yourself some cash, get the Brembos and have a little more room in the seat.

i am 6'2" and 245 with a 32" waist. in my previous cars i would drive with my legs spread apart. when i started driving this car, its one of the first things i noticed where the seat kept pushing my legs back together. it took about a week for me to get used to it and now i couldnt have it any other way.

Come on guys the '05 coupe seats are just fine. Much better quality than the '04s have. Over time you will get used to them. Im 6'0 165lbs with a 32" waist and its ideal for my size and besides that it will give you more initiative to go to the gym. just kidding

I love the seats in the 05 coupe (5'10" 175). Although I have a few larger coworkers that go to lunch with me that have complained about them being too narrow for them. I love the way you sit IN the seats instead of ON them. Whenever I ride in my wife's Altima, I feel like I'm sitting on a park bench! =)

All these comments are true...but still why did they need to make the seats in the coupe that can stir up complaints from some people...??? The sedan seats are soooo much more comfortable...but everything else about the coupe wins hand down (cept for the damn blind spot like every coupe has). And yeh...I agree with the BMW comment...I drive a 330ci with the sport seats and the seats are soooo much more comfortable than the ones in a G coupe. I can live with the G coupe seats...(5'10" 185 lbs 36" waist) but I think that Infiniti should have made them just a bit wider.

I feel your pain since I had the same issue your are having and corrected myself. The power buttons should have never been placed on the seating surface area. That in itself is taking away some seating room and also creating pressure on your thighs.

I removed the buttons and re-located them to the side where they should have been to begin with. It took me all of one hour to do this and has changed my feelings on the seat and the car dramatically.

I had pictures but I didnt think anybody was experiencing the same pain as I did so I erased them.

Im tellin you do this modification and it will correct the problem. There is a metal bracket that holds the buttons that you will have to chisel off and locate the buttons to the side of the seat.

check my post history and maybe you can find the pics.

good luck and dont give up the car is worth it

Those seats are one of the main selling points for me. I've owned many cars and my favorite stock seats were in my '84 GTi. They were narrow and had big hard bolsters, great for keeping me in place during hard driving. I've never sat in leather seats that held me in place like my '05 G's. My Mustang GT seats were pretty comfortable and looked sporting, but were a joke in corners. BTW I'm 6' 170lbs.
