Unhappy gas door stuck...now what?

ok, had a really embarassing time today at the local gas station. sat there for 5 minutes pushing on my gas door and finally gave up. it appears to be "stuck" closed. Is this a common problem? no searches have come up with anything. I keep getting people telling me to find a lever inside and I tell them there is none. Luckily I have half a tank left.

Are you sure you had the car unlocked? The gas tank door won't open unless the driver's side door is unlocked.

Its a security feature.

Those go out all the time. So do the springs in the little black boot that pushes the door open. Just take it to a dealer...its covered by warranty.

Question: Mid fill up, can I get out of my G and lock the doors?? i mean, is the attendant gonna have problems topping me off and close up the gas flap?

In some states (NJ) self service gasoline is not permitted.

I'm not sure, but I believe that door can be closed while the mechanism is locked. Give it a try, but don't force it tho.

Hell yea, Here in New Jersey all of the gas stations are full service and the prices for gas are good to boot. I just filled up this morning 93 octane 2.01 a gallon.
