I work with new cars everyday. Not modified ones. Its fun to see modified cars everynow and then. Anyways today I had this one 05 coupe in a pearl white kinda color with racing heart wheels that were the kinda bronze color of the brembo calipers..it looked really cool. Anyways it has an exhaust kit on it and the mufflers had tubes that came out the sides but didnt connect back to the exhaust...like a storage tank or somthing. What the heck are these for? What are they called? What does that exhaust kit cost? It was a full kit from the cats back...the car didnt have headers or anything.

So the tube out the side is to lower the sound?

 

the 'tube' is a canaster baffle/resonator

It operates on the same concept as the intake tube on the g35 which creates the same sound canceling effect.

 

Thanks, thats what I thought. One of the ricer porters said its a filter so that you can still pass emissions. He was way off on that.
