My G feels a little anemic

I've had my '04 coupe for just over a year. Over the past few months, it seems to have a little less unf! during acceleration, even hard acceleration. I do need to change the air filter, but I don't think that would attribute to the loss I am feeling.

Unfortunately, I don't have easy access to a dyno, and I don't even know where I would go to put my car on it.

My car has just over 27k on the odometer. Has anyone else experienced the feeling of a loss in power?

I do realize that it could just be my perception and not actually anything causing it. Is there anything I should look for?

Perhaps you got a tank of bad gas? Maybe you need a bottle of Techron to clean things up.

My coupe is also a little over a year old and it runs great!

Good luck

Actually, if you're going to use fuel injector cleaner, at least use one that is safe for the whole fuel system. Stick with something like Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner. Non-corrosive and can help reduce deposits. Try putting in a bottle and then another after 5 more tanks of gas.

As for the loss of power, how would you describe it? Is it hesitation, or just a general feeling that it doesn't produce as much power throughout the rev range? A few things to check:
- Definitely replace the air filter. That can be a significant cause.
- Are your tire pressures OK?
- Have you put in <91 octane gas?
- Have the throttle body cleaned
- Check the coolant level
- Check the base ignition timing. It's possible that it could be off, although unlikely
- Check the throttle position sensor. If it's shifted at all over those 27K (also seems unlikely), it can reduce the throttle valve opening, reducing power.
- Check the plugs
- Check the following sensors: engine coolant temp, MAF, IAT, crankshaft position
- Check for an exhaust leak

Those are the main things I can think of for now. Good luck.

In addition to the above, you also might consider resetting the ECU. Here's the link from the FAQ & DIY section:

I’m not an expert or anything, just a though that might help. Usually when a car is a year old with 27k think about servicing the fuel filter.

Not on these cars. The fuel filter is an in-tank filter that is only to be serviced when there is complete clogging. There is no timetable specified on the maintenance schedule.

I too feel the same way, but I know it is because we have all gotten used to the power of the G. My track times are actually faster now than the track times when i first got my car, and ironically it feels slower now than it did before.
