Has anyone put snow tires on their G35? Do they really work? Should I spend the money on them?

 

The Blizzaks are completely awesome. With VDC on and a 70# sand tube in the trunk (you can get this at most builder supply places), the car goes like hell. I've driven my 6MT all winter with absolutely no problems in New England. In fact, I can usually run circles around front wheel drive cars--especially up and down slippery hills (rear drive is better for this).

 

do they make all season's or snow tires in 19's for our cars?
my car came with 19 inch sports pkg.

 

just buy cheaper winter wheels and tires so you dont have to worry about banging up your stock wheels.

 

You are much better off with a 17" winter tire and wheel set. 19" snows would cost you about the same and not work as well.

 

Agree. Go to Tire Rack.com and get the 17 in. package. Nice alloys and the Blizzaks cost about $1200. You want smaller wheels and taller sidewalls for potholes. Do you live in the Yukon? It's a bit late to be thinking about snows.

 

I know everyone swears by Blizzaks, I have them on my wife's Acura 3.2 Cl -S.
But....
I put Dunlop Graspic DS-2's on my 04 Coupe, let me tell you they are FANTASTIC!
40lbs of kitty litter in the trunk and the car is terrific in Snow!
Another 8 in of wet icy snow last night naot a problem.
Don't get me wrong. you need to stay alert with the throttle but the car is Very good in the snow.
Lots of people have a beater for the snow, which is a good idea, if you want the expense of another car.
Buy both of our cars are to get us to our jobs, so they must do that 4 seasons.
I am very pleased with the Dunlops, more so if you are looking for a "pure" snow tire.
General purpose, snow ice, wet, the Blizzaks are also very good.
Next winter my wife's Acura will need new snow shoes, I will be going with the Dunlops on her car also.

 

i've got the pirelli 210's on mine. no kitty litter or sand bags... no problem. don't need the extra weight in my opinion, this car has pretty good weight distribution as is. don't waste your money on all-season's. enjoy.

 

If you have the summer tires you might as well buy a winter Blizzaks set. Two sets of tires will wear less, so your really not saving that much money in the long run by getting all seasons, plus you get the extra security of having the best snow tires when it snows.

 

Do you have the summer performance tires?

If so, then listen......if there is going to be snow on the ground, and you are going to be driving your G....then get snow tires!!

If you do not, you will regret it when you slide off the road and something breaks.

 

wait til next November. yesterday was hopefully the last snowfall in NJ for a looong time. lookin forward to puttin the 18s back on. but yeah if u want to go anywhere in ur G in bad winter weather areas u need 17's with winter setup.

Ya I have the summer perf. tires. I dont drive in the snow at all, absolutely not. I know the risks... I have my faithful Audi for that, best thing I have had in the snow (and doing donuts in it is fun!)
I was asking only to make sure if there is something out there for the 19inch tires.

 

Has anyone put 17's on their 6MT with Brembo Brakes. If so what wheels do you have and do you need spacers or any other hardware.

 

Many of us have put 17's over the Brembos. Tirerack knows what will fit, and if you do a search on here you'll see this has been discussed countless times. Personally, I ran 17x7.5 ASA JH3's with 225/50-17 front and 225/55-17 rear Dunlop Winter Sport M3's this winter and they worked great. Fit over the Brembos was just fine. I just switched back to my 18's and summer rubber last weekend. It feels like a new car again!
