Clear bra only helps a little
I bought my G35 with a clear bra installed, and where it covers the paint, everything's A-OK. Uncovered places are another story--back half of the hood has 10 chips, sides have chips, etc. It's a chippy car. For what it's worth, the new Tacoma has a huge paint chip problem of the same sort (am shopping for one) and their forums are buzzing about it.
I guess the answer is to clear bra the entire car . . .

It seems like black and red are the worst for chips, from what I've read.
Not a chip on my Caribbean Blue after 4000 miles, knock on wood. It does have a clear bra and 2 coats of Zaino so far.
I drove it almost 1000 miles before I was able to get a clear bra on it and it didn't have a single chip that I could find when the clear bra went on.
The Zaino does seem to act sort of like a "liquid clear bra".

Since day one of having my G, I knew that the car was sensitive to rock chips and stuff since the front is so low to the ground and the paint job is crappy. I have a Black G so I'd be able to spot the rock chips from a mile away, but I hate car bras to death so that was just not an option for me. Proper application of a good auto polish is all you need to keep your baby looking clean.
Let me go take a picture of my G so you can see the condition of the front bumper.
all you that live in california, you all have chips right? If you dont live in california i dont think u will have as many chips. I think california has to use a water based paint or something like that (ill have to look it up) but im posotive they use a special paint just for california, for the environment.
Every car I have owned that was manufactured after 2000 has always had chips in the front.....stop bit*hing and deal with it, I have owned a toyota a acura and now a infiniti. Though, my G hasn't chipped yet, but when it DOES, im not going to be suprised.

Here are the pictures, I took them less than an hour ago. Unfortunately, my camera's flash was so poopy so the first picture is too dark to tell much of anything. The second and third pics are more revealing...a little too revealing, actually. The digicam highlighted all the paint imperfections (swirl marks, hairline scratches, etc.) but in person it is not so bad. You see the imperfections under certain lighting and only standing within a foot of the car. But as you can see (unless I missed something), there is not a single rock chip on my Black Coupe and the odometer reads 17,XXX - not sure exactly how much mileage but it's in the low 17's. Been through two winters and covered most highways in the tri-state area.

Thanks!

Thanks!
i'm picking up my car from mobworks in orange, ca on monday. got tired of looking at the chips so i had them repaint the front fenders, hood, bumper and aftermarket front lip. they also installed the lip. they have a good rep so i'll let you know how it comes out.
