I ordered my IP/Stone 6mt on Dec 28th which the order went in first week of Jan. checked a couple of weeks later with salesman it showed a order # and said being built in Feb. and delivered in Apr. Checked on it in the middle of March it showed a VIN# and showed a delivery date of April 15th. Called salesman this morning and he looked it up, it is showing HOLD!! what does this mean? does anybody know? did anybody have this when they ordered their car? Salesman is checking in to it suppose to maybe let me know this evening or as soon as he finds out. Its killing me. I figure my boat must of sank or something. After waiting this long how much longer do I gotta go???????

 

hey, finally somebody in the same predicament as me. I thought i was all alone. Mine was ordered about the same time and it has finally left the dock (today). I just found out 10 minutes ago. My understanding (I've called everyone that I can get a number for to find out what's going on and no one seems to know) is that the XM radios were on backorder. Since they are port installed (if ordered), they held my car (and possibly yours if you had XM) until they received a unit to install.

The frustrating part about this is that mine has been on HOLD since mid-Feb for this. My dealer has XM radios sitting on his shelf that he could install and I could have had my car a month ago. Plus, my current car is down and in the shop, so I've been renting a car for teh past 6 weeks. Infiniti is killing me.

I've emailed customer service and they never responded. I called them and they said they would look into it. My dealer is trying everything he can to get the car and he's having no luck. It's been a real pain for me (and expensive...)

Hopefully, we'll both have our cars by mid next week if not before..

April 15th? I ordered mine in January and the dealer said it was supposed to be in this past weekend. I just called again, and he told me that they haven't received any more "print outs" and that it should be here today or within the next few days. I'm a bit curious why the car is supposed to be here, but they don't have a vin# yet.

 

If you can get a VIN, it should be on this side of the ocean. If it's on hold, it should be at the LA port most likely.

cg: if they don't have a VIN for you yet, I'd say it hasn't even arrived at port. My delivery date was supposed to be 3/1, so I wouldn't bet on yours being here anytime soon (esp if they dont' have any papers on it).

 

Yeah, that's what I think too. I think the dealer is just trying to keep me from going elsewhere. I'm on the East Coast, anyone over here heard about their cars being on hold?

 

Seems odd, my 6MT sedan was ordered about Jan 5th, it arrived about a week ago. The dealer told me there was a problem with the aero kit, so I switched to splash guards. other than that, no problems... (Grubbs in dfw TX)

 

I ordered the 4 piece kit, so some of those components are probably on back order. Figures :-/

 

well I just got off the phone with the salesman and the status changed this morning from hold to delivery on April 13th. Boy sure had me worried for awhile. My smile is gettin bigger!!!!

 

The kit is supposed to be available again. I'm debating ordering it. The front spoiler WILL hit curbs...

The dealer just called me. My car is at the dealership waiting! I'm going to pick it up this Saturday. I guess the back order was resolved. Its supposed to rain though, so I may pick it up next weekend.

 

If somthing is an option on the original window sticker it is installed before it gets to the dealership, so its either done at the port or at the factory. You will sometimes see the addendum (second window sticker) that shows things like aero package or XM and those are items that are installed at the dealer at the same cost as if they were installed when the car was shipped. If the only difference from the car you want and a car they have is somting minor like XM or aero package you can just have them add it.

Also if a dealerships scores (customer service scores) drop or are low infiniti will hold that dealer from new cars till they sell what they have. They will also completly cut that dealers ability to special order cars. If you find a dealer that has a bunch on stock and can order one you want, they are usually teh better dealerships.
