Injen CAI vs. Z-tube/JWT Pop Charger
I've heard a lot of different ideas about which one of these mods is better.
Which do you think is better between lets say an Injen CAI vs. a Z-tube with a JWT Pop Charger??
I dont know a whole lot about either, so some opinions would be nice.

well i went with the later.....[pop and z tube]....but it really is personal pref.
the CAI's in general you have to worry about engine flooding.....my friend with an injen [on his type s] got his engine flooded 2 times.....but i mean if you don't get much rain....go CAI.....but if u do......just get the z and pop.....its just fine and sounds pretty nice above 3k too~

the only reason i would have gone for an injen cai was for looks. otherwise, both intakes give off a loud howling sound: the popcharger is the loudest intake available for our car and also gives off a high pitched whistle. no matter what though, an intake will not make much of a performance difference. it is merely for sound/aesthetics and the gains are usually just in your head.
i tend to agree with kyosho in that any aftermarket intake is mostly for looks and sound. performance gains are minimal, but i have yet to see a before-and-after dyno of a stock intake vs. aftermarket. there's gotta be some out there, though. personally, i like my z-tube/K&N combo.
i've heard that the AC line WILL rub against the Popcharger. most people just use a zip-tie to hold the line back.

So if these mods don't really show anything as far as power is concerned, does anyone have any recommendations for a good first mod that adds some power but isnt priced as high as lets say aftermarket exhaust?
I want to get my G over 300hp...what's a good way to do this?

Oh Crap......here we go again........
A few Nismo stickers will add about 10-12 hp.
In my opinion, you would be better off starting with mods to make your car handle / look better.
Wheels/tires, springs, shocks, sways.
It is very hard to squeeze much more power out of the VQ with bolt on mods.
Unless.....you bolt on a super charger or turbo....

I would go with the Injen CAI. Because of its looks and performance. I know Intakes dont give a lot of performance but the Injen CAI looks way better then the Z-tube. Another thing is you dont have to worry about hydrolocking because with the Inen CAI you can make it into a short ram was its raining and CAI when its summer time. That is what i did with my Injen Intake.
remember dyno's do not measure acceleration gains.... more power does not mean more speed....many times boosting hp has resulted in no gain...and even loss in 0-60 nd 1/4....last months Road and Track magazine with the 5 mustang test is a good example....the 35 annivesary 350z is another.
Intakes do make your car quicker...lightened flywheels make your car quicker....weight loss can make your car quicker.......save the intake none of these mods add power...but the add speed and quickness.

goldfinger and gonspeed: you might want to look into an aftermarket plenum or one of hydrazine's plenum spacers. they seem to have the best gains for the money at the moment. you will also probably feel a bigger difference in performance from something like a technosquare ecu than an exhaust (which also costs twice as much, but the added sound and high rpm pull is the benefit)
i got the UT carbon fiber intake system.. this intake looks the best in my opinion! the plenum mod or plenum spacer is the best mod you can do and its dyno proven... exhuast is def another majore mod you want to get out of the way...
