brake dust

Not news to anyone, but this brake dust is really annoying. I spent 3 hours trying to get off the dust that has collected over the last 3 months (my fault for letting it go so long, but it was too damn cold in Boston this winter to get out there and clean). I got most of it off, but the dust that is now stuck on the inner half of the rim is IMPOSSIBLE to remove, even with the various different cleaners. Does anyone know of any "tricks" or even where I can buy an effective brush to get into the innter half and clean??

Brake dust is a fact of life with the G and other performance car. You can change to less dusty pads but I took the easy way.....I waxed the rims. Takes about 45 minutes and the dust just literally rinses off now. I used Meguiar's NXT.

I started using this stuff, P21s Gel Wheel Cleaner, last summer with a corncob brush and it works great! I found that during the winter here in Chicago it works very nicely if I just spray the wheels, let it soak for about 10 minutes, and then spray it off with the hose on a solid stream.

You can get it here: http://www.emmonscoachworks.com/

Just search under car care products, the 1 liter is $22 and lasts for a good amount of washes.

I mentioned this in another thread but it fits here too. It looks like the 05's aren't as bad as previous years.

700 miles on my G and it hasn't made as much dust as my Maxima used to make in a week of work commuting. No poop. It barely darkens the wheel between washes.
