How long is transport really supposed to take??
How long is transport really supposed to take??
I am really frustrated right now so please bear with me. I ordered my car in January and was told my car keys would be in my hands by late this month or by the latest the first of next month (April). I have had my VIN now for over 3 weeks. The car supposedly entered the states, in Cali of course, sometime around last week Tuesday or Wednesday. Someone please tell me why, my friend and I ordered the car at the same time (mine MT his AT) and his has already been there and is being clear bra'd as I type, but mine is stuck on a train. His was trucked there from Cali. By the time my is "supposedly" going to be there next Tuesday, it will have been on a train for 10 days or more.
Just how long is the commute?? I believe its 5-7 days from NC to CA on train and this is only going to Texas.
I am also venting because I was told my car would be here at the end of March which is why I made arrangements to sell my current car which leaves me this weekend due to that arrangement. I will have a rental for what looks like over a week now.
this is Crazy........
then I have to get my car bra'd and then shipped to me in VA
Im spent.

For every 10 G35 Coupes, 2 of them are manual transmission (sometimes not even that). Your friend's car simply came in sooner because 5AT's are so much more common. It is simply much easier for dealerships to get their hands on the right 5AT car than the right 6MT car.
Your dealership isn't lying to you, your car is almost there. But just the way you're in an airplane waiting in line to take off when there is traffic, the douchebag captain keeps saying "it'll be another 10 minutes" every 10 minutes until you finally take off, your dealership is doing the same thing. Don't be too upset, almost all of us who had "ordered cars" had to wait longer than we were told, especially the 6MT people.

Thanks for that. It does ease of the heart a little. As you may have experienced, the happiness built up to a great level and to be told more than once that the car wont be here sucks, but thanks for that. Much appreciated.
My car is supposed to be here in 2 weeks... lucky for me I won't be back in the country until 4 weeks after that so tehy'll have some time to get their **** together at the dealership...
they always take longer than expected.

I ordered my car in January (6MT), and was told I would get it some time in early April. Well, My car got here on Monday and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow. I'm on the East Coast too. Not sure why some people are having to wait so long.

Hey Saltidawg, nice to meet ya. I recently moved here from Texas, so the climate shift is quite a bit, but its not too bad because I lived in Seattle (wet and cold) for 6 years prior to that. I think its a really beautiful area, though I am away much of the time, so I don't get to experience too much. The snow is frustrating as is the rain currently. It seems like it is clear and sunny on week days, and rainy and wet on weekends (when I plan to pick up my car and drive it). Anyway, got my delivery date about 2 weeks ago and now it is at the dealer. I didn't get my VIN# until it was already delivered to the dealership (shrug).

We don't have a VIN nor a delivery date. We're patient people and I called them four and eight weeks after the date we ordered the car. Will call again at the the 12 week point. As I've gotton older (I fully retired ten years ago at age 52) I've learned to not be quite so **** about things that in the big picture aren't really going to be remembered in a year. That said, my younger wife is getting a little bit anxious.
ordered mine dec. 28th but orders only go in first week of each month, so it was ordered first week of jan. salesman said it would take a couple months, but I figured longer different dealership said up to 16 weeks. after couple weeks called and it showed being built in Feb. delivery for April. called middle of Mar. it showed vin # and delivery Apr. 15th. called last Monday it showed being on HOLD. called Tuesday it showed delivery of Apr. 13th. gettin closer!!! At age 46 my 18 year old mind is killing me can`t wait.
