Valet mashed my baby
Going to Sears Point this weekend, heading through SF this afternoon. That was the plan. Told the lads at the garage to have the car hand washed. Done it easily 20 times in the past two years. They are real good and love the car and treat it tenderly. I have known all of them for a dozen years. They took it out, but had the car wash guy bring it back. He got frisky. Bellied it on something, tore the exhaust up, bent the header flange, destroyed the cat and 02 sensor is bent, and the racing radiator is cracked somewhere and steaming. Not going anywhere to race this weekend. I needed a speed fix and was really looking forward to running fast in a light field at Infineon. It can all be fixed and made right, and it will be. There won't be a financial sting or at least one that I cannot deal with easily. But unpacking the race suit and helmet, tools and supplies and all the gear....felt like someone had shot my doggie. No cosmetics hurt. Just parts.
Rats rats rats. (that is as bad as my language gets).

Did they pay for the damages?

Not a joke. Just so dismayed from the event that my prose is beyond sloppy.
I was scheduled to run the car at Sears Point raceway. Told the guys at the garage to wash the car and have it ready by the time I left work to head on up to the Bay area from Los Angeles. The car is washed off site by a subcontractor to the garage for that purpose. Normally the garage guys collect it and bring it back. This time a car wash employee did it. He pranged it up driving it two blocks. Probably at least two grand in damage by the time the labor is applied.
The bad part is not the damage. It is simple stuff and all of it is just pipes and stuff, no frame bending or body work at all. It will be fixed.
The bad part is I was totally psyched to go racing again this weekend and had gone to major effort to get it lined up. And then major deflation. I will be over it by sunrise.

Carwash driver admitted he pranged it. The boss and I talked and they will pay the damage. He just needs the receipts. I am taking it to the radiator speed shop tomorrow. Replacing two cats and two 02 sensors will be a grand with labor. Radiator will be at least $500. (It dropped a gallon of coolant from the extra high capacity system I had in there). Hopefully that will be it and I will have it back and purring by the end of the week or beginning of next week.
