Re: Reliability

Fwabs,
Think about this........what is more dependible after the warranty is out, and which would cost less to fix 5 or 6
down the road. The only reason I say this is because, a
good friend of mine has a 2001 Acura CL Type S, I know his
is an Acura and not an Infiniti but he has the manumatic tranny and his warrenty just ran out about month ago. As soon as that happened his tranny died.....talk about bad luck. Anyways, 6000 dollars later, he had a new one. I'm sure the six speed is a pretty penny as well, but can't be 6 grand........I know I plan on keeping my G35c until it becomes an antique.........MASTERS

when only 4 or 5 people have been complaining on this forum, and the rest of us (at least 50 people) have ZERO COMPLAINTS about the 6spd gearbox.
That means the percentage of faulty gearboxes is less than 10%....then remove those that dont know how to use a short-shifter, i would say only 1% of the 6spds are faulty. But thats why we have a 4 year - 70,000 mile warranty!"

Absolutely. I agree completely. I can think of at least one poster on this board who complains about his tranny alot, but I'd wager dollars to donuts he hasn't got a clue how to drive a manual - for that matter, I doubt he has a clue period. Personally, my experience thus far has been the same as yours, Rambo - 2,700 miles and counting, and it just keeps getting smoother, regardless of what my shift points are. Besides, the powertrain warranty on these beasts is excellent, and Infiniti stands behind it's product. The worst that will happen is you're stuck with a loaner for a short time while the problem is fixed at no cost.

I know a couple people on this forum are on their 3rd or 4th transmissions, that can only mean 1 thing....THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO SHIFT PROPERLY!

Gee, I wonder if you're thinking of the same person I am? ;-)

Re: Reliability

Oh I agree that manuals are generall more reliable than autos. I was just commenting that lots of people seem to be having problems with the 6MT. I guarantee you a lot of those problems are idiot drivers... the kind i like to blow away in my 5AT! :-)
