Buying a new G on Mon. Is this a good deal
I have been thinking about buying a new car for awhile. I was thinking of getting a slightly used 330CI coupe or a slightly used or new G. With a lot of influence from my gf it came down to a new G. I really love the look of these cars and I can't wait to really drive it. I went to the dealership on Sat. and started to talk pricing. The manager shows me her invoice which was 34,475 and said she could do the deal at $1,200 above invoice. I told her thats was more then I was willing to pay and I wanted the car for $35,000 even and not a penny more. She said she didn't think that was possible and they had been getting atleast a $1,000 over invoice. I told her I was still looking at a used one and I would get back to her on Monday. I think $500 above invoice is a good deal. What does everyone else think. Do you think she will come down another $700 or should I start looking at other dealerships.
Depends where you are I got mine for 285 over invoice but I think I got a great deal and I bought mine in january and here in the north east January is not a good time to sell rear wheel drive coupes.
I'm currious about this too. I have a G bookmarked for me that is being delivered the 22nd of April, but I may have found one in stock at another dealership so I might begin negotiations this week. I was planning on aiming for no more than $1k over invoice and hopefully more in the $500-700 range.
It really depends on where you located. Some dealers will be have more or less supply and more or less demand.
So the question comes down to where are you?
If you look in edmunds, it's good becuase they'll ask you for your zip code to gauge the markup accordingly.

I am in TX and after looking at Edmunds I am trying to buy the car at $2,400 under TMV. It seems to be that 500-700 over invoice is a good deal. I was just unsure how much demand there still was for the coupe. I know 1-2 years ago they weren't discounting that much.
Are you looking for a manual or auto? Autos seem to be going cheaper than the 6MT's and easier to find.

It's an auto with premium package, sport suspension, satellite radio, trunk mat and splash gaurds. I really like the 6M but I drive a manual everyday to work so an auto is a nice change.
pratik97, I see that you have done some stereo mods. What do you recommend for someone who doesn't want to change a lot but wants better sound. I hear the Bose isnt that great and would be looking for a slight upgrade while still using the factory head unit.

if you provide more details, i think the board will be able to help you even more.
Tell us if this is a MT or AT. Any options? Where do you stay etc. etc.
look at cardirect.com and edmunds.com (TMV) prices. You should get the car for less than whats showing on these websites.
But $500 over invoice is what people in the North East are paying on an average. Anything below that would be a good deal in my opinion, a great deal if you can get a manual for that much.

While it is of course, our job as a consumer to try to get the lowest price possible... Think of the time and effort cost of trying to save another 300-500 dollars... $1000-1200 over invoice is fair in my opinion. Is saving another 300-500 worth waiting another couple of weeks, hoping they have it in stock, another round of haggling with salespeople, then they delay the delivery, make you wait around. etc.. etc.. May not be worth the aggravation.. If you dont mind all this then go forr it..
