7500 miles service interval question. Thanks!=)
Hi all, I've had my G for about 5 months...question...my g35 is about to hit 7500 miles and wanted to get your opinions if the service is really necessary? what else does the dealership do besides change the oil? i also want to get an idea of how much this will cost so i can be prepared to talk to the service manager so he wont rip me off just b'cuz im a girl. any help will be appreciated, Thanks!
I just think its good to have a history with the same dealer that shows that you've maintained the vehicle properly and frequently. I'm a CSR for Jaguar and it really changes a dealer's view on whether or not they will assist with a non-warranty covered item(ie when ur sh*t out of luck and need some help paying for a repair) if you have a nice history with bringing ur car in for service, and keeping very up to date with ur reg. sched. maintenance. The dlr road tests the car, tops off all of the fluids, aside from changing the oil and filter. I paid like $75 bucks. I just think we have a luxury car that should be svcd at the dealer in order to keep it in the best possible condition. Just my .02 as ppl on here say.
welcome.
aside from the oil/filter change, they do some minor routine inspections. get the oil/filter change only and you'll be fine, assuming you or someone knowledgeable check your engine bay once in a while for the other fluid levels (brake, clutch, coolant, etc.)

The book calls stuff like "check the belts"....
Do the oil, check your fluids, inspect the belts... your good
At 15k the only thing different is the in cabin filter
At 30k they change AT fluid (not a full flush - that is listed at 60k)

I would be safe and get all servicing done by the dealership you bought it at unless you are very experienced in doing the job on your own, plus it gives you more privileges down the road shows buyer loyalty. Its an expensive car expect to pay a premium when you go to the dealership, bottom line, this is just another expense you have to deal with when buying a fancy automobile. If you cant swing it then they have plenty of honda civics across the street.
You didn't have the oil changed yet???
I just changed mine at 1100 miles, sent a sample off to Blackstone labs. From the report, there was a lot of **** floating around in my engine that I'm very glad is not there anymore. Just my 2 cents.

Most 7500 mile services include an oil change, fluid top off, 27 point inspection, tire pressure check, brake check, and tire rotation. If the vehicle is still under factory warranty I will open and close the doors a few times to check if the regulators are loose, I will check for the clicking in the axles, I will test out the audio system, basically I will look for warranty issues for the customer. One reason is that is more work that I can get paid for doing, and the customer dosent mind because its at no cost to them.
There are a lot of people who dont know that coupe tires cannot be rotated, in that case we tell them of that fact and tell them in place of the rotation we do a wheel/tire balace instead.
Usually you can expect this minor service to cost around $100.
