Trunk won't open

I have an 04 coupe and intermittantly the trunk won't open with the remote or the dash switch. If you turn the key on then back to off, the trunk will then open as normal for a while. The trouble could be more than intermittant, but how often do you open your trunk.... It happened again today, I called the dealer. They had me turn off and on the valet switch a few times and it did nothing till I turned the key on. The tech said they had a sedan owner call with the same problem, but there was nothing they could do unless they can duplicate the trouble. Does anyone have a solution?

I've had this happen too and I don't know why...

I had the same issue only once though. Both the in car trunk button and remote button did not work. Finally turned the car to on and the trunk was able to open?

I don't think the valet switch has anything to do with my problem, its just a troubleshooting step the dealer wanted to take. I'm going to waste my time and make an appointment today.

EDIT: appointment is Monday 4/18

I have had this happen too. I think it might be related to the fuel door getting stuck also. Next time my trunk wont open Ill try the fuel door or vice versa. I bet they both get stuck at the same time.

With my 03 coupe, if the key is in the ignition (not sure if the car has to be running or not) neither the fob nor the button will open the trunk. Some sort of lock-out I believe to keep you from opening it when the car might be moving (key in ignition).

Something to consider when t-shooting.
