Negotiating, what do you make of this?

I started negotiating this morning, with my salesman. I told him in my email that I didn't like that his boss and another salesman he brought over both told me that you can't order one of the 6MT's without the premium package. I snipped some of it, just want to know if his statements are accurate.

Yes it is possible to order a G35 Coupe

That is not what they said to me. This guy's boss said that you CAN'T get one without the premium package. This makes me pissed, I have $2198 in factory options (that is MSRP price) but not that damn premium package. Why do they throw this much heat instead of getting you what you want. Is this guy telling me the truth? Will the factory decline to make a IP w/stone with just a sunroof? I dug up some threads a few weeks ago and I think if you are ordering the aero package and also the aerodynamic body kit (w/o rear spoiler) together (R94 and R01) that they are port installed when the car gets off the boat, is this correct?

Premium

Yes you can, I did. The order was sent in January and the car is scheduled in late April for delivery.

Well, my salesman said my car was being ordered this week, 6 MT w/o premium pkg. He also said it would take 90 days (!), but what the heck.

I don't have a problem with waiting for the car, I'm interested if someone got dealt a hand of cards like they are saying. You ordered your car in this config and the factory said "no". I'm also interested in if my statements are true regarding the port installation of the spoiler, front lip, diffusers, etc.

I think they just want you to get one off there lot. The factory will build any car you want because in their eyes its all $$$. I just ordered mine the other day and am waiting for the 90 days. The only option I got is the sunroof and front chin spoiler on a 6MT. A saleswoman told me the exact same thing, so I just went to the salesman next to her. haha bet she feels stupid...

Well it's a guess but I'm betting they just do a production run of no sunroofs all at the same time, then apply the various colors (int/ext), another run with just sunroofs, etc. This is a little different because I have the salesman, his boss, and the salesman that orders the coupes all telling me the same thing I'm not mad, negotiating is fun to me This dealership is 5 minutes from my home, so I'm going to exhaust the situation before I move on to another dealership. The convenience of the service dept. being so close is very attractive. There are straight up, honest, solid salesmen, but most of them I come across could double as politicians. Anyone seen the movie "The Corndog Man"?

good luck man...sounds like a bunch of BS to me...if they're taking orders, they should take orders....I mean, if you go to an equally upscale restaurant and don't want onions on your plate, they aren't going to tell you "no, that's the way it comes"...
btw, how much money will you save without premium package? and what options do you lose?

how much will I save without it? $1400. What options will I lose? None that I want. I don't want to get into a premium package debate, there is a thread on that. The point is that I don't want it. They don't have the color I want either, and none on the way, so the car will have to be ordered at either way. If I'm going to sit around and read about G's falling off trucks and the like while I wait for my car to come in, then I want the car how I want it.

That is TOTAL BS... I'd run away from that dealer quick. I also ordered a 6MT with nothing but a truck mat and chin spoiler (both dealer installed options, so it had NONE from the factory) and there were zero problems, car will be here in a month.

You'll have to wait 8-12 weeks, but you CAN have what you want...

Order from wherever you want!

Since these folks are obviously jackasses, and since you're ordering a car anyway, why not do it through any dealer in the US?

Dealers always want to get rid of what's on their lot because that's the inventory they have. Non-service-oriented dealers would rather push what's sitting outside instead of going to the effort of ordering a car.

Like I said above, this dealer is 5 minutes from my home, with traffic or without, it's that close. So the service dept. being that close is sweet. As I said above, most salesmen, well, they aren't much different to me. I replied back to this guy already, if he doesn't want to do what I ask, then yes I'll move on. I'll ship the car if need be. I'll burn this out, move to different dealers in my area, then state, then nationwide. This is step #1. I told him that I'll be buying the GTR as well, as well as getting the car serviced there. If they don't want a longterm customer, no problems from me, I'd just rather deal with one dealership and get all my chit done there, works out better for the longterm.

you don't have to purchase from them to use their service department. you should start dealing with like three (or more) dealers and let them all know about each other...then see what kind of deals get offered...just make sure they are rivals and not affiliated with each other...then take your good deal to the nearby dealer for service when you need it...

I have recently been to two different dealerships in SoCal, and I've already seen 3 6MTs w/o premium. Find another dealer.

Total B.S. I just picked up my ordered car that was supposed to take 90 days, and it showed up in 85. My dealer gave me no B.S. and was happy to do what ever I wanted. Find another dealer dude! Notice my sig.

I read today on the Infiniti site that the G35 Coupe sales figures are down from 10-20% from a year ago...based on what month you look at!

That fact should be mentioned during your negotiations!
