Help: How hard is it to remove the BODY SIDE MOLDINGS?

I am about the purchase a 05 G Coupe and Park Ave Infiniti has the exact one that I am looking for (Park Ave Infiniti: by the way, this is the worst sales experience that i have ever had. My salesman is just downright dumb and the only reason that I am dealing with it is b/c the car is there now). My only problem is that it has the Body Side Moldings that protect the car from door dings. No offense to anyone but I feel that it just throws off the whole sporty look of the coupe.

So, my question for everyone/anyone is: Can i easily remove these Side Moldings without having to do any major body work to the car? Do they just peel off? Please respond tonight b/c i have to decide on the car tomorrow morning.

Thanks guys

yes you can remove them...just be careful as you can damage the finish or panel....some people say to use dental floss to cut the tape...I have never done that...at my shop, if someone wanted moldings removed, I don't think we would charge them for it.....so you may call around and ask body shops in your area if they would help you out....when you call tho, don't ask the receptionist, try to talk to an estimator/service advisor....good luck...

why don't you just have the dealer take them off?

are they just taped on there? The ones on my old GSR had them clipped in (there were holes). I had to take the door panel off to get to them

Well see, the GSR's and most Hondas have an indented body side molding...I wouldn't recommend taking them off, itll be ugly...but on G's its stuck ON TOP of the body, because again, its an option, unlike hondas/acuras...

The Type R had no moldings and I think they look awesome.

But yea, i guess it wouldnt be difficult to remove the moldings off a G. Have the dealer remove them
