g35 v. s2000

...so there we were, at the traffic light on 202. My buddy in his s2000 starts reving that thing up to 7-8 grand. I must admit, I was a little nervous given the reputaion of those little beasts. However, I was confident in my coupe (just installed the cats last week). I'm feathering the clutch at 1500-2000 (please God, don't burn it). The light changes, I let off the clutch and DAMN! my tires are sticking and I'm pulling away commandingly! All that I hear besides my cats, is his HKS exhaust behind me! We raced 2 times with the same results and he gave me my props, even start, plenty of room. I can't believe the power of tis car if you just allow it to breath better with a few simple mods.

The crawford cats alone have been "reported" as a gain of 20 - 25 hp at the wheels. that is a 10% gain, that is huge. A super charger is a 50% gain. so the cats alone are 1/5 of a super charger. THat is big... but I guess if you have unlimited funds and have increased hp by 100% then 10 is no big deal.

As a disclaimer, all of that information is reported from what I have read around the forums, I don't have them on my car.

An S2000 is good comp to a g35......but even a stock 6mt will win most times....while it is hards to launch a g perfectly....its even harder to extract the best out of an s2000...more room for driver error

I would have to say Apple to Apple, 350Z vs S2000 is the correct way as compose to G35C vs M3

I have the video of S2000 vs G35 vs 350 vs RX8 vs Miata vs RSX vs WRX

Pretty awesome video and you can learn it.

20-25 hp is quite a lot? Not trying to knock you or anything but is this true or just a guestimate?

I know, I thought the same thing, but that is what they claim (with dyno proof) on the crawford website. and a lot of the my350z guys have corresponding proof as well. They are long tube headers... I guess it makes a big difference. they are like 1000 bucks.

I have both. I have had the S2000 for 4 years now and just got the G35 coupe 6MT last week. Still don't know the full power of the G yet but it seems about as fast as the S.

s2k isn't made for straightlines take it to the track and you'll see that some of the best times are made from those little light nimble high revving vehicles

We've taken them in the twisties and although I was keeping up, I def. felt like I had to work harder to keep it on the road. Perhaps some stiffer anti-sway bars will correct some?
