To install it, do I have to do more than just remove the headunit and replace it with this one?

Yes its a mere double DIN swap out! GRider35c is gonna give you more info and will correct me where I'm wrong...

i have the AVN (Audio Video Navigation) 2454, the new AVN 5435 is exactly the same except for these differences: the volume and channel up/ down controls have been switched so the volume is closer to the driver, the face looks different (mine has real brushes aluminum to match the 05!!!), it takes satellite radio, and i think thats it...
since this is a fairly new model i also think they made it virtually impossible to watch dvd's unless your car is at a complete stop (speed sensor now rather than brake wire, which could be grounded)... i can watch dvd's while driving

it retailed for around $2400 when i bought it but got it for $1800... the total investment was around $2500 and i still have steering wheel controls

Ferrari, where are you from?? PM me the info if you dont want the whole world to know...

Remember though that unit is merely an LCD screen with A/V inputs/outputs. You will still have to supply your own source of DVD and/or Nav...If you didn't care about Nav and just wanted it for DVD's. I'd def get that with the new Slim PS2, and viola! You can now watch DVD's, and play games...and if PS2 Slim allows MP3 discs???

Remember that a DVD based navigation NEEDS the CD in at all times...so even if the drive claims to play both DVDs and NAV CD, you can only choose one. But the AV unit has a dual disc slot so that you can run both at the same time, but all you have to do is toggle...

that system looks superb.

if you don't already have navigation then it's not really worth it to get factory navigation on there. headunits like this not only will have better sound quality and do more functions but look a helluva lot better.

I believe he indicated in his post that they do ... There are usually adapters for interfacnig most steering wheel controls into aftermarket headunits.

I was thinking abt the AVN and double din setup but then this option is growing on me, especially after seeing the video.
