My car was involved in a hit and run, but luckily the perp was caught on security camera and will be paying to fix the car. So now I have gone out and gotten estimates to fix the damage, but what about inherent diminished value?

Have any of you been in a similiar situation and been able to claim this? if so, how much?

 

make a case where you cant get it up now, and you can win 1 million, its been done before

 

Was the damage over 25% of the value of the car? In NC it must be more than that or else you do not have to say a word when you sell the car.

 

From what i hear, diminished value is extremely difficult to win....in most cases, it can only be done with current year model and you have to have as good or better lawyer or team of them than the insurance company...good luck, but probably a waste of time and money...

 

I made a DIV claim when an adjuster pissed me off a long time ago for a different car. I am sure that the damage didn't drastically effect resale, but I did get almost $300 extra dollars out of it.

 

I am not trying to gouge anyone, I just want whatever inherent value has been lost when I go to sell the car. I figure it to be anywhere between $500-1500

Going to dealer tomorrow to speak with them about this in person. Over the phone they seemed willing to write an estimate for diminished value, put it on their letter head, and hand it over to me for my use.
