Dyno #'s plus vid...

Got the G dynoed at Ultimate Performance in Sterling, VA yesterday & I honestly was expecting higher results. We did a total of 5 pulls in 4th, highest we got was 228 hp / 217 tq. Mods are listed on the graph below. Really wish I would've gotten baseline #'s so I could compare. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'm over buying bolt on performance parts...If I want to see any substantial increases I need to bite the bullet & boost.

6MT or 5AT?

Were there any other 350z/g35's that day? If not, then it's hard to tell, the dyno may have been reading towards the low end that day.

I felt the same way about bolt-ons after spending about $800 for plenum, pulley, popcharger. I had only "gained" 4 HP. I did some other stuff, and managed to pull much better numbers a few months later.

agree with the bad pull or off day. I dyno'ed mine at 230RWHP completely stock. supposed to go back this week and see what Injen CAI, SES exhaust and Helix pipes have done for it

same here... 230 whp all stock

Living proof that too much mods (or breathability) may actually take away from your gains...

I dynoed 232rwhp with top speed headers, test pipe, y-pipe, 3 inch b pipe, greddy sp2, and injen CAI on a dynojet. After I installed my vortech I went up to 380rwhp. My car is in the shop now for greddy install. I am hoping for 425+rhwp.

What kind of dyno did everyone dyno on? Certain dyno's read higher hp.

without a base run, or others to compare for the day... hard to tell.

an AT would have baselined about 220 - 224, the MT closer to 230 RWHP SAE Corrected.

any mod requires some smarts, just cause it's bolt on doesn't mean more is better.
As to breather mods, you need more in to get more out. If you are looking for some real bumps, do a plenum or plenum spacer, high flow cats, a crank pulley, even headers

Given that yanked 252 SAE corrected on an AT (prior to my pulley set or cooler plugs) bolt ons can do the job great, if you do the job right.
Given that I got like 14% or ~30HP RWHP out of simple intake mods, cats, and exhaust totaling lexsxs than 2 grand. And I had a lot of fun doing it.

I can't wait till I port and polish the intake and plenum, and add the headers... then we'll see what the dyno has to say.

Being the 1st on the dyno can reduce your numbers, if the oil lubricants in the drum are not warmed up and have higher viscosity.

Also consider that if you didn't reset your ECU, the ECU may have held back timing, etc.

You should be in the 240s with your mods.

4th vs 5th gear doesn't seem to vary much on the 6mt, we're talking 2-3 HP. 3rd vs 4th on the 5ATs is different. I've seen 7-10 HP difference.

try nitrous? dont know how many people actually run it on ours cars so not sure on the numbers but nitrous + tires is the most amount of gain you'll see for the money..

i try not to go to the tech section.. it'll just make me sad that i cant afford anything right now lol

I've never been a fan of nitrous...I'm just gonna save my $$$ & figure out which method of FI that I'll go with. I want a reliable 350 - 375 hp so I guess I'll be building up the engine as well.
