dude. kia's rule. i'm going to trade my g in for an '04 rio.
all i was saying was what chris farley said in 'tommy boy' : "if you want me to **** in a box and put a guarantee on it, i will... i've got time... but if you want a quality part etc... " or something to that effect. basically, i never, ever, look for a warranty for a basis of making a large purchase like this. they are nice, but should never be a precluding factor. it's the original quality of the brand you are buying. things will go. that's a fact. no matter what it is, or who makes it. so maintenance costs will always exist. that's why insurance companies exist. s*** will always happen. so i would take that part about the warranty out of the equation. i personally would get a g for the practicality. even if the bmw has a more encompassing warranty, that might scare me into thinking it needs to be covered more extensively to be sold or considered a better product.

WTF?!?! The G35 is more powerful than the 330i by about 50 HP. He's not talking about the M3, that's a diff story.

I think you misunderstood him, i also assumed that the g35 would kill the 225 hp bmw in terms of acceleration with nearly a 55 hp advantage and now 73 hp difference for the 05's. but!, if you look at the numbers you may be surprised that the bmw 330ci manual runs the 1/4 mile in 14.71 seconds, and 0-60 in about 6.10 seconds. it is slower than the g but damn those are some good numbers for 225 horses.

also an update on my original comparison, i have found a
2002 bmw 330ci coupe, manual, with 14K miles, sport package, leather, xenon, harmon kardon, silver/black and in pristine condition for $27K.

and there are numerous 04' g35 coupe manuals around which i can probably get for $29K with premium package and similar mileage.

i know the bmw is older, but mileage is low low low. and i still love the g35's exterior styling's more, but bmw interior and ride quality are better. what a dilemma, don't know what to do

The one thing I like about the 330 vs the G35 is that you can get a 330xi in manual transmission, with teh G35x you are stuck with the automatic. (and manumatic doesnt count)

Hi guys I'm new to the forum. I recently owned a 2003 M3 until a few days ago I got side swiped by a kid and my car was called totaled by the insurance company. I'm probobly going to buy a G35 because I'll 1.) spend less money 2.) less hassle of BMW BS. Don't get me wrong as the M3 is an amazing car, but modding the car is expensive and frowned upon by most of the community at heart. I used to own an IS300 and it was a great car. I think I'm coming back to *** with the G35.

I know I'm probobly going to be called crazy for not buying another M3 (I'm getting a $51,000 payout from insurance company minus the loan on my car I'll probobly end up with about $30,000 in change.) but the car IMO is comparable to owning a sport bike when you live in a congested area like I do. The only time I ever enjoyed the car was on highways. I'm sure with some modding that a G35 could be up there with an M3. At best that car pulls 290 to the wheels, I don't care what BMW says. Exhaust, intake and a chip if one exists for the G35 would probobly put it close to the M3 and that really is good enough for me.

You're gonna need more than an exhaust, intake and ECU to keep up with a M3. However, throw in a vortech (380 rwhp) and they're really frown upon you.

To the sucker who implied that I refered to my mom and great aunt as dicks, I appreciate you proving my point about BMW owners who have their heads too far up their asses to know what is going on around them...

The M3 has NOOOOOOOO torque and most people do NOT know how to drive the car to get it up to its supposed 4.8 0-60 and its 13.6 1/4 mile. Exhaust, headers, intake and an ECU upgrade on the G (although it might be a bit costly) would put it well over the 325 mark as far as HP and it would bring its torque past that of the M3's. If you get all those bolt on parts, you might not take the M3 all the time, but it would be a good race...

If the M3 puts 290 to the wheels, then a modded G with just bolt-ons stands no chance. I believe the highest of the Gs only puts down 260 something to the wheels with everything on. Also, none of the Gs have gotten under 13.5 that is still N/A. The G doesn't respond well to mods and is already in a fairly high state of tuning.

Ok, I'll give the nod to a modified 6 speed G against a convertible automatic M3.

Oh, and no stock M3 is gonna put 290 rwhp to the ground. That's 13% drivetrain loss. BMWs are efficient, but not that efficient! Based on my old E46, I'd say they're about 16%. So 279 rwhp is more realistic and when compared to the strongest G35 at 260, it's not so far off. Gearing would still be in the M3s favor.

Definitely the G35 my man!

For reference, I've owned the following: 1999 BMW M Roadster, 2002 BMW M3 (E46), 2001 Boxster S, 2001 Carrera and 2004 Carrera. The two Carreras were faster--especially the 2004. The M3 was probably faster, but the feel is so different it's hard to compare. I don't think the M3 is the god of all sports cars like some make it out to be. It was fast, but felt softer somehow (I know that's vague). And it seemed to me that I sat higher in the BMW 3-series than the Porsche or Infiniti. The 3-series is being replaced right about now with a new model, the existing models are a dime a dozen on the roads, and don't compare to the G in my opinion...

I got the G35 Coupe because I wanted the funnest and fastest car I could get that also holds an infant seat in the back. That left an M3, Audi S4 or G. The M3 and S4 are both in the $50k range and were both coming out with new models soon. Neither BMW or Audi were willing to deal much below MSRP with me. The G was in the $35k range, is at least *as* attractive, and for the huge price difference not THAT much slower. At least in terms of how it "felt" driving. And daycare runs me $900 per month... Ouch.

Make up your own mind. :-) Unless you want me to drive it.

I actually like the new 3 series. Not love at first sight but its different. A change from others. I know many of you will disagree with the new look, flame away :-P

Spoken like a true bmw owner... I sense a bit of arrogance.
