Just got my G-6MT, questions?

Got my G35C 6MT and have a few questions:

1. Doing the slow break-in procedure with the Rev lite shift points set at 3000rpm. I noticed the lite still comes on when driving in 6th gear and rpm is around 3000 (BTW, it's difficult to keep it at this rpm when on the freeway, really wants to go faster) the Rev lite still comes on. I thought the computer would know that 6th gear is the max. Why is it telling me to shift?

2. I have the IP color and thinking about getting a clear bra for the front. Washing it today, I noticed a tiny chip. Is there a certain brand that is better ? And is the dealer the only place to get touch-up paint? They want $17 for it, sounds high to me.

3. Is there a waiting period to wax the car? On a previous car, a dealer (not infiniti brand) told me to wait about 6 months for the paint to complete its drying process.

4. Sometimes, I hear a little creaking sound from the dash or driver's side window. Doesn't always appear. Is this common?

5. Is the clutch on this car stiffer feeling than on other cars? I haven't driven a manual trans. car in over 20years. An Infiniti service advisor said the clutch is similar to a racing type clutch, therefore has a firmer feel to it.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying driving this car. Lots of power, can't wait till it's broken-in.

1. A shift light is just notes you once u get to a certain RPM.. usually its set around 6.5-7k so yeah

2. i would get the paint from the dealer.. and its up to you.. in a long run i wouldnt get a clear bra but yeah.. rock chips are a PAIN IN THE ****.. just try your best to drive on clean roads and away from the car infront of you

3. no i would wax it right now.. it comes with a coat of wax from the dealer thats why its so shiny when you pick it up.. i would also start cleaning and conditioning the leather/dash.. check out the detailing area.. theres alot of useless repeated threads right now but go back a page or two

4. creaking? if its rattleing then its the top part of the seat belt (The part thats adjustable)

5. our clutch is rather hard vs normal clutches but not as hard as race clutches...

question for u: does ur head unit reset? lol

Do you have any proof to back this claim up?

4. I just got my 05 6MT 4 days ago and I have the same sort of soft buzzing - I think its from the driver's side small speaker or that aluminum trim below the airduct to the left of the steering wheel. Only there occaisonally, but it still sucks on a car that has 255 miles on it (249 from me).

I LOVE THIS CAR SO MUCH

http://www.courtesyparts.com/infiniti/paint.html

3.99 + shipping for the paint, allthough with shipping you really wont save that much money.

hahaha! So you have no tech or proof to back up the statement?

I could give two ****s if the 05 has a softer clutch than an 04 or previous model. I just think it's extremely funny that you can say it's "50% softer" and then the only tech you have to back up the statement is "sit in an 04". Nice try, son.

I had the very same thing on my car--it was coming from a relay mount just above the fuses in the left kick panel. The mechanic at Infiniti fixed it in 3 seconds (had to bend it out a bit--you can do this yourself if you can positively identify the source).

rev light

You can set the rev light yourself. Also, you should set the rev light at 4000 rpms for the break in period. The manual just says that you aren't supposed to go above 4000 rpms. At this mark, the car is much easier to keep within the threshold.

The only proof I know of is that Nissan/Infiniti changed the pressure plate on the '05 coupe and 350z Anniv. Shifting effort was also reduced. I just drove today an '03 350z 6MT and the clutch was A LOT stiffer than the '05. A number like 50% may be completely random, but the difference in stiffness is considerable, no need to take every word someone posts literally...

whaaaa, first of all SON, its softer way softer, ofcourse 50% is not an exact figure but thats how it feels, if youd like to feel it try it out. I have no tech proof because i dont need that proof nor do i care, but it feels 50 softer to me or so, and thats what matters, i dont need to proof anything to you SON.
