My Name is Xstarpro and Im a MOD addict!
It all started when my mother in law began extending her visits to 2 and sometimes even 3 weeks or more..OUCH!!
She likes to move my furniture just so I will notice she cleaned something or tackle me first thing in the morning and right after work for some "deep" conversations..SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!
A co-worker recommended this site so I began strolling the forums at night and before you know it Im in the garage putting on a z-tube---I NOTICE--Wow its quiet--its peacefull---I've found my haven!!!! It works beautifully because my wife doesnt even notice my absence-- you've gotta love it! Before you know it (everytime she visits) Im practically living in my garage AND ITS AWESOME!
I try not to think about the price....when I do I tell myself how much money Im saving by doing it myself (ofcourse I exaggerate the savings to make myself feel better)...So one bonus and one mother in law visit at a time-- Im slowly creating my ultimate dream machine and loving the addiction!

The best advise I ever heard from a friend who makes engines for some of the nascar winston and busch, busch truck series, and the le mans saleen, is buy a car as fast as you like it from the beginnning.
A car was designed to be a certain way by the engineers.
Saying that, I will never supercharge or turbo my G. I'll wait until I can afford a Porsche Turbo someday in the future after all other expenses are done with.
That's from a pro who's been doing this for 30 years. Have your fun, but be prepared for the added expenses.

Besides, the advise from your friend is really a half thruth.
The cars are designed to be a certain performance level (True) BUT WITHIN MASS PRODUCTION STANDRADS AND RESTRAINTS (VERY TRUE) why not improve on that with obvious things. Certainly TC or SC puts a good deal of stress and wear on an engine. But breathing mods, cosmetic mods etc... in fact breathing mods can not only improve performsance, but can improve mileage, as well if freeing up power may actuall extend engine life.
