I was thinking of doing the exact same with my 19" 05s. I thinik steel grey would be money.

I don't think it's comin' off later. Wouldn't it actually be powder-coated as opposed to painted? It would look good though!

Here's an Altima SE-R that I owned for a short while. I guess you would call these wheels gunmetal?

I painted mine cuz I use them for track purposes and didn't want to spend a boat load on it. For somone doing it for the look, I'd def recommend powder coating...

If you want the coating to last, you really need to get them powder coated. Painted wheels (ie. non-chrome wheels) from the factory are powder coated. It's a much more durable wearing coat. The color chemically adheres to the metal much better than just autobody paint. Don't know what the cost would be though, but probably $300+/wheel if I had to guess.

Gunmetal is a little darker than the stock 19inch shade, right? Because if it is they do look nice!
Before I took delivery of my 05 I noticed some wheel rash on one wheel...I told em to knock off some from the price or give me a new wheel...they offered to paint them...I said fine. They came back a little darker than the stock wheel...and it looked yummy on my Lakeshore...I swear...if my my G were a girl I'd...um....

once again, if it is painted, how hard will it be to remove the paint?

about as easy as repainting your car then trying to take the paint off afterwards.

its not coming off once you paint it.

I am thinking of doing the same thing!! But if I do, I am deffinitely getting them gloss black, just need to see which is more cost effective, paint or powdercoating!!

Will powder coating create a bold color or just a shade or two darker/lighter? I'm thinking about powder coating my stock 05 19's black, but dont want to do it if it is just gonna be a few shades darker.
