Time for new tires on the rear - 18"

OK gang, it's time for some new shoes on my '04 18" stock rims - only 11k miles and it's time already.

Here are the finalists...

Michelin Pilot Sport
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Yokohama AVS ES100
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

The Michelin's are the Orig Equip and I like them, they just don't seem to last. I have heard good things about the g-Force's except for the noise. I don't know much about the others.

Let's hear your opinions and comments...

I have the S-03s, I just happened to check the treads on them today, the rear one's tread are almost gone(center), the front ones are ok, I think i have about 11000 on them. it gets very loud when half way worn.

The BF Goodrich Tire's were ranked number 1 in consumer reports. The Pilot sports are noisy.

Don't forget about the Pilot Sport PS2 and Bridgestone RE050A. Both of those are worth a look.

Better think twice about replacing just the rears with a different brand. There have been several reports on forums of VDC "slip" problems when mixing brands, all of which were fixed by going back to a matched set (new on rear, old on front). The weird part is that you'd expect the difference between a new tire and an old tire to be just as big as the difference between two different brands of tires. But the VDC feels differently about it!

Damn, only 11k miles and you need new rear tires already?? You guys need to stop doing so many burnouts. At $300+ per tire, burnouts get pretty old and expensive really fast. I've got 15k on my tires, and they've got at least half their tread left, and that's including a full track day at Willow Spring. I don't do burnouts though. I did a burnout once when the car had about 2k miles, just to see how it was, and never did it again, because it just doesn't entertain me that much and I know how freakin expensive these tires are.

Save yourself the cash and just replace the 2 rears with another matching pair of pilots...550 or so out the door. No vdc issues or mismatched pairs and a few bucks for other mods left over.

Thanks for all the comments. Kepp 'em coming if you wish. I have not decided yet, but will within the next few days.

I didn't realize that there were a couple of Pilot Sports. Tirerack lists two, but they both just say Pilot Sport. One is listed as W rated while the other Y, but both have the same tread wear rating. I don't see any listing for PS2.

As for "doing burnouts" - none here. I don't even drive them that hard. Perhaps it's the concrete roads down here in Texas!!

The Pilot Sport PS2's are not available in 245/45R18 size which is stock size on the rear. What size PS2's are y'all using?
