Great pickup man. I have always been an m3 fan and was deciding whether to get this 03 m3 or 05 g. I went with the 05 g because it was better for me since i am still a full-time student. But in the future, i see a nice m3/m4 next to my g35. =D.

m3's are so sexy but i did expect more in the interior department. dashboard is also really plain. But still so so sexy. haha

I def agree that the Bimmer in General is more refined, but in the same respect the M3 has this raw feeling to it... Once you start it... sounds like a car with cams that can barley idel, the exhaust has this raspyness to it that sounds awesome, kinda like a bike but not as high pitched.

And SMG in S6 Mode is brutal, its the sickest feeling taking a 2-3 upshift at speed.... you almost think you broke something in the rear
The SMG Shift light sequence is awesome, cause the revs build so fast and smooth you dont even know your about to slap the rev limiter.

Hey if you have that kind of money to throw around then why not. To most people spending over 50Gs for a car is nuts, but some people have it like that. Congrats on the upgrade, to me the M3 has nice power and beautiful wheels but it looks like any other BMW on the road. Boring. Plus the 05 interior is up there now with BMW on the materials. I know the build quality is much better, but damn the interior looks like crap to me. To german looking for my taste.

Great choice on the M3.
My choice came down to a slightly used 330i or the G. The test drive of a 330i didn't impress me. (My last car was a WRX with VF34 upgrade) The feel of the transmission wasn't what I was looking for, and the torque just wasn't really there. If I could have gotten a great condition slightly used M for what I paid for the G, I'd probably be an M owner now. (though I'm a bit scared of German car upkeep and breakage costs.)

Great car. Beautiful. I drove an 05 SMG for around 100 miles two weekends ago, and it was a nice ride. The SMG really takes getting used to though - don't know if a six-speed wouldn't have been my choice (if I were shopping M3s - which I'm not - no coin for that kind of business). Overall though, I expected more. It was the first M I had ever driven and the mystique had me expecting more than I experienced. Maybe it was bias toward BMW - dunno.

Anyway - not a BMW of any kind fan, but I do respect and admire the M cars. Unreal performance and power. BMW just attaches too much 'perceived value' to their MSRP for me. I just don't get it. For a slice more than you spent on the M I could own a G Coupe AND a G Sedan and the M just wasn't that good.

Not hating - to each their own and congrats on a great car.

I was actually gonna pull the trigger on the M. But I was really planning to keep the car long term. Great car, and your're right. Riding in it feels like riding an untamed animal.... , but that's what it is.. a driver's car. I got the G instead because of the long term concerns (V6 engine at 333hp---> blown engines 01-03, 1st iteration of SMG II). Just didn't want to deal with that. I'll save my pennies for now, but will eventually shoot for the V8 M3 which I think will be an oustanding platform.

Congrats on the car, M3s always look great in Alpine white.

E46 is a sexy *** car. congrats on the buy.
everything has to do with money somewhat. M3 is a nice solid car, especially with SMG and if i had the $$ and the choice between G and M3, of course it'll be an M3, and i'm sure most ppl think the same.
if u can afford it, why choose G over M3. G over 330 and under makes sense

BMW M3 does not have a V6 engine.

I almost said it, but decided it might have been a typo.
When I was shopping for used E46's to look at, I was shocked at how many owners had listed their 330i's as having V6 engines. I guess a lot of people driving enthusiast cars really don't understand what they have.

Didn't I read somewhere that their is a 2000 factory suspenion upgrade/option for 2005 since BMW was bothered by the fact that a cars that cost less than tht M3 were equalling it? If that is so did you get the said suspenion upgrade option and or was it offered?

Yes, I agree, nice solid car. But read the M forums about the engines and such. I had an S4 before this, let me tell you, spending time worrying about turbos going bad is not fun.

And because life is not always about cars. I make decent money, but don't grow money on trees lol. I'm at the stage of my life where kids can be a consideration, and my wife may need something new too. I was in that kinda frame of mine too, but I'm not willing to do something that will expose one to financial risk ( I am doing an MBA right now btw). 60k is a nice chunk of change, but when you consider what else you can do with that money (invest in real estate, businesses etc), you might rue the day you bought that car.

That's my 2 cents and to each his own.

Nice car.

I am always a bit confused when people compare the G35 to the M3. For a 20k premium it should be (and IMO is) a nicer car. I don't see anyone comparing the G35 to a Scion xB - that's a 20k differential too.

Now when the next generation M3 comes out and the Skyline gets here THEN we'll have a decent comparision...

u pretty much said the same thing, cuz my point was if you have the money, then yes you can get it. if you have a wife, paying for a house, etc. etc., then of course you dont really have a choice between a G and a M3, no?
