leveling the radar detector?
leveling the radar detector?
hi,
when i got the passport 8500 x50, i just slapped it on and drove like that for a bit, then i took a closer look one day and it wasn't that straight, so i redid it a few weeks back, and now im looking at it and i think its a bit crooked..
how do you guys level them off? just with your eye or is there a trick to it?

holy crap, you worry alot
Just get it as straight and level as you can with your eye.
Actual function has nothing to do with it being level, other than
how well it is aimed toward possible radar sources.

If you’re looking for a great set-up do a search on Mike’s mount. I personally I have the passport 8500 X50 and Mike’s mount works great. For anyone who has the passport 8500 x50 or the V1 this is great accessory for your radar. You attach it to your review mirror and if you need to take it down quickly you still can. It’s really worth it if you hardwire your radar then it’s up in a good location and there are no wires hanging down. I don’t know his info off hand but if you do a search there are others here who also have Mike’s mount and you should find his info in one of those threads. In one of those thread there also a picture of someone here who has it if you want to see what it looks like. Good luck with however you do it though.
