A while back i thought i've lost one of my keys. So to dealer i go, to have a new set made. Now the old one i found doesn't work . I tried "search" but couldn't find anything about the key. Any one can help would be greatly appreciated.

The key will not work unless it is reprogrammed. The will recognize up either 3 or 5 keys, but you need all of them when the car is reprogramed.

Even if you are the max, I'd keep the key for now, you can use it again should you loose a different one.

 

The 05's have a limit of 4 keys that can be programmed. Pre 05's can have up to 5 keys. Eventhough its the same code to register the keys, all keys need to be registered at the same time.

If you have 4 keys and one is not registered they will all have the same cut, but the chip inside is not registered. It can be registered at a later date (as long as all the other keys are also done at the same time), until then its only good on the door.
