any stereo shop can do a custom job for you if you explain what you want done, and pay enough $$. As far as radar detectors, i love my V-1

I just bought the 8500 X50 the other day. I'm having it hard wired in the morning. So far, so good.

The V1 is always good, however.....don't overlook the Beltronics RX65. It's received great reviews.

Any of those will suit you well. I would stay away from the Cobras and the Whistlers of the world.

It's all about personal preference and your style of driving.

If you are mostly a highway person, go with the most sensitive one.

From what I have heard, the RX65 is supposedly REALLY sensitive. I would give that a serious look for the fast driving. Beltronics is owned by Escort (or it's the other way around) and it's a quality product. It just gets overshadowed by Valentine and Escort.

For the longest time, I think Bel was somewhat the "red-headed stepchild" in radar detectors. However, it looks like it really has stepped up to the plate.

The only reason I didn't buy it is because I got impatient and didn't want to have to order it over the internet (I couldn't locate it in stores anywhere).

Escort Passport 8500 x50. The V1 is BIG AND UGLEE and doesn't nearly have enough features and adjustibility that the escort has.

After recieving ELEVEN, yes... 11 tickets in less than one year, I finally bought an 8500 since 2001 and upgraded to the x50 last year. It has never let me down. Best $300 I have spent in my entire 23 years of life.

I took each ticket to court and was only convicted of 3. Not bad for defending myself in court eh? Anyways as most of you already know, it takes 3 years for points to leave your driving record. As of March 25th, 2005... I am officially a perfect driver with ZERO points on my record. Not one single ticket since I purchased my escort.

I used to pay 1,800 every 6 months for insurance with USAA.

i love that question. lol. my v1 has given me a heads up sometimes close to a mile before i see them, which your gonna need if you like drivinig fast. im not sure about the others but on the v1 it gives you the strength of the signal so you know how far away they are and how quickly you are gaining on them. no complaints about my v1. im sure if you choose the v1 or the passport youll be happy.
