Question Scratched Door grip finisher, any ideas on replacements?

Recently, my 2003 G35 Coupe 6MT sustained some scratches on the passenger door grip finisher. This is the brushed aluminum (or is that titanium?) plate that fits over the solid door grip on the inside.

If anyone knows where I can order a replacement I would appreciate it. I tried a google search but couldn't find this particular part for sale anywhere although I did find ones for the 350Z.

Is it possible to get this plate refinished instead of replacing it? If so, any recommendations on where this could be done or would any competent body shop be able to do it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Madmatt

p.s. On a unrelated topic, I see the new 2005 coupes boast more horsepower. Is this due to better tuned emissions which I can somehow get retrofitted on my 2003 (new ECU chip?) or is it a lot more complex than that?
Thanks!

inside? call a discount parts place like Grubbs. They sell for less than $20 and snap off/on

Interesting. After some trial and error I got the part number and info from Grubbs (they wanted 49 bucks for it) and also checked with Everything G35 who only wanted 20 bucks plus shipping.

Now before I order I am still a little concerned about how exactly the old one will *pop* off and the new one installed.

Has anyone done this and if so, is it really as simple and snap off and snap on? Apparently the part has some holes drilled into it in the center which seem to require grommets or some kind of screw but they aren't threaded so the guy at Grubbs and the guy at Everything G35 really weren't positive how this part was to be installed.

I have a copy of the Electronic Service Manual from Infiniti and it too is not 100% clear on this part as the only section that mentions it is in reference to removing the entire Door Finisher. Part in question is labeled as #3. see image at: http://www.battlefront.com/misc/doorgrip.gif

The steps for this part just say:
Removal
1. Remove mask of inside handle portion and remove screws.

Infiniti part number is: 80944AM800

So, any advice on this one?

before you order it tell your dealership it is scratched...mine just gave me a new one for free.

It is simple to pop off. You just get a long thin flathead screwdriver and there is a small slot at the very bottom of the piece where you can pry it loose.
The new piece will just pop right on.
