strange noise from rear=bad hub bearings

Just an FYI. I had a strange metallic noise coming from my right rear wheel. It wasn't a click, but sort of a sqeaky / grinding type of noise. It would happen anytime I stepped on the gas to accelerate, regardless of gear, though it was easiest to hear in first gear. I took it to the dealer and they found that the hub bearings were bad. I was a little surprised given that my car only has 5500 miles. My 350Z went through 12,000 miles and an engine replacement but never had bad hub bearings. Interesting. Anyone else have this problem?

Hub Bearing Replacement

I had both front Hub bearings replaced. Grinding/Metal nosie at highway speeds. My car had 40k on it so it is more understandable then 5k but it still should not have happened.

My '91 300ZX went 165,000 miles before the front wheel bearings had to be replaced. Looks like Nissan is skimping on the bearings now.

A rare issue but not unheard of here.

Pretty sure there have been other posters here having the same issue so it doesn't look like it's a one off for you. Hopefully others that don't have the problem immediately won't have a surprise later after warranty period expires.
