Hello, new G35 coupe owner

Hello everyone, just picked up a '05 G35 6MT and wanted to say hi. I'm new to Z/G but not new to cars, I have been a regular @ dsm related forums for years and own a '90 Eagle Talon TSI AWD since 1993. As a new G owner, I have some questions and hopefully you guys can help me answer them.

1. The clutch engagement point seems to be pretty high, are they adjustable?

2. How do I properly break it in, sorry my first new car. I was thinking 1.5k miles and shifting before 4k, anything you guys would like to add?

3. I plan on changing both fluids to synthetic, any comments?

4. How mod friendly is Infinity? What are the modification limits without voiding warrenty?

Thanks in advance for your comments. If you guys have any questions concerning DSMs please feel free to ask me, it would be my way of contribution to this site for now.

Bruce

Break In 1.4k not to drive over 4k RPM. Easy starts and stops, no dry start ups. ( It is in your owners manual ). Read It!!!

Synthetic is great, But let the car break in first with regular oil. I would not change to sinthetic till first oil change after break in. I would not do it till I hit 3k mi.

Clutch is adjustable, but may cause It to wear a bit faster. ( This is controversal at G35 ). Do a seach to find more!!!!

Mods. It depends on what you do and the dealar you go to. It seems that the G35 does well with mods from what i read. Do a search to find more!!!!

Many of your questions can be answered thru. a search with more detail then i gave you. Search on: clutch, clutch wear, clutch adjustment, break In, Mods, and OIL, Synthetic. and start reading. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR G

dont take it personal, its just that after being on this forum for a couple of years and seeing the same questions over and over and over again, we all get a lil impatient. just wait a couple of months, you'll begin to luv flamming noobs too

anywayz we know you got an 05, what color? options?
congratz on the car, you'll get use to the high engament point, took me bout 2 or 3 weeks, now i dont even notice it.

if you want some easy and cheap mods, just get a z-tube and a JWT pop charger

I tried to send you a Private Message, but your account isn't set up to receive them.....but yeah, this isn't the friendliest forum I've been on....try to search to find your answers first....then as a last resort, post a new thread, but be prepared for rude, uninformative, childish replies at least 80% of the time...at the same time tho, there is a sh*tload of useful info and cool people here...

welcome aboard! you'll love this car...

Welcome. You will find that there is a lot of cool people here. I spelled Infiniti wrong on my first few posts and got trashed for it. No big deal your a G owner now. Enjoy your car.

Didn't take it personally, just a little dissappointed. Was expecting a little more maturity with the G owners. I guess it's the same no matter where you go.

anywayz we know you got an 05, what color? options?
It's black/Graphite Leather, premium and aero pakage. I will post pics as soon I get the chance.

I went into the options page and couldn't find settings for pm, sorry must be the newbie thing. I have been doing a lot of reading since we picked up the car on Thursday. The car was a surprise from my girlfriend so I didn't have time to research a head of time. I knew a car was coming and was expecting a EVO MR, she thinks the G fits me better, no complains here.

welcome aboard! you'll love this car...
Thank you, I already do.

Ha, glad to know I wasn't the only one.

Hi Bruce,
Congrats on the G & welcome to the forum! My last car was a 95 GSX (bought new) modded to the max. I just picked up my 05 6mt coupe this past Thursday. One of the many interesting things I noticed was the power is much more linear in the G compared to our DSM's turbo smacking ya back into your seat at 3k. I'm still deciding whether to keep the GSX as a winter/beater car or sell it. Anyway, welcome to the forum, this place rocks and there’s TONS of great info & people here.

Dam I wish this break in period was over )
